That opens up too many questions about match fixing. If Man Utd loan a defender or 'keeper to Norwich, and then either gives a penalty or scores an own goal against/for them on the last day of the title - giving them the championship, they'd never hear the end of those allegations.

Wouldn't matter as much if they had to go abroad or down a league

Yeah saw that, real shame as its doubtful we could we replace him with someone of similar quality as a squad player.

If his stats that he picked out are true and I have no reason to believe their not. We really need to give him, his chance, to show he can be a PL starter. Can't argue with his stance either, obviously been told he will be on the bench even after his performance on Tuesday given the timing.

I think overall the groups are pretty even, slightly distorted with benfica top seeds and dortmund 3rd, not sure how they work out rankings but maybe it needs to be looked at, then again any point based system will have anomalies. I would personally give automatic top seeds to the quarter finalists (assuming they qualified) the previous year, but the big clubs would never let it happen.

A few people saying man u have an easy draw, I disagree as it looks like a group where teams will take points off each other.

My memory must be fading with old age, after forgetting about Victor Moses existence earlier, I have realized I had forgotten Lewis Hotlbys existence until I saw he scored today, cant see him getting much game time at spurs with the players they have bought in.

The Europa League draw was a bit of a fix wasn it?

The fella was just picking the draws....

Spurs should of got Shakhter Karagandy or Maccabi Haifa, but ended up with Tromso

I'd say all the English Clubs should go through there, albeit all having long trips to Russia and Spurs having Moldova, they should all go through imo!

My observations from today.

Liverpool - Getting the basics right, not looking as reliant as Gerrard as in previous seasons, a forward in great form and taking advantage of positive momentum, will be tricky what to do with Suarez but Rodgers is paid well to make such decisions. However main concern is squad depth, compare the Liverpool and spurs bench today and the latter blows the former away. Liverpool will need to be very lucky with injuries.

Man Utd - Have heard a few people criticizing him for not having bought in a top midfielder yet. To be fair its not as if a top midfielder left the same day Fergie went. It seems a bit unfair giving him all the blame when his predecessor had plenty of time to sort an obvious problem out. I have doubts about Fellaini but if he signs he deserves a chance. As for Ashley Young he is never a Man Utd player in terms of either talent or attitude, I cant remember him having more than a few decent games at Man U and he should be sent back to the premiership mid table where he belongs.

Arsenal - Extreme overreaction after the Villa game, considering the same group of players played so well at the end of last season the idea that Arsenal needed a complete overhaul was silly. I like the idea that Wenger will give someone like Ramsey a chance rather than just importing from abroad and also think Giroud will be better this season. They would benefit from additions but not wholesale changes.

Spurs - For all the hype, they have played 3 games and not scored from open play. New players may take time to gel.

WBA - I think they may struggle this season, they look pretty solid on paper, but cant see where the goals are going to come from.

Swansea - Important win today after losing their first 2 games. I used to hate Swansea and Cardiff but now they are so far ahead of us, I see them being in the premiership as good for the international team. I worry the Europa league could take a lot out of them but think they will score enough goals to not be in a relegation fight.
