Our bench was awful today wasn't it? That said Suarez, Toure, Allen, Sakho, Moses, Cissokho, Kelly etc were all missing due to injuries/transfers not finalised so we should be a bit stronger in a few weeks. Unless we sell Suarez tomorrow!

The Given to Liverpool rumour is a strange one. At his age (and after spending 2 of the last 3 years as a backup) I thought he was the type of player and would rather play in the championship than see out his career as a benchwarmer.

That's if they had the money anyway, which (given how much they've pissed about with arranging the finances for Bale) I'm not sure they do. Then again, maybe they will have if they ship out Ozil and more.

It all seems a bit late tho... unless Suarez has known all along that this was coming, and that's why he's been happy to pretend to settle back in at LFC.

If Bale Madrid (see what I did there? ) are coming in for Suarez then I'm guessing that L'pool are going to end up with at least one of the more-decent Real squad in exchange. I can't see L'pool letting Suarez go on deadline day if they're not getting someone in as a replacement.

Allardyce lost the tactical battle against Mark Hughes on Saturday in a big way, and not for the first time. Add that to too many individuals having poor games and there was only going to be one result. In fairness, Stoke probably deserved to win more comfortably than the score line suggested.

Now G&S need to pull their finger out and bring in some players required before the deadline.

I have heard some of the British journalists based in Spain claim that Madrid have never had any interest in Suarez and it was either assumptions from the British media or Suarez agent stoking up interest. Im not sure who liverpool could get from madrid. The better available players would want champions league football or to become liverpools top earner, which probably leaves you with the 2013 versions of Nunez.

I'd say that if there was to be any negotiation today (deadline day), then L'pool hold as many cards as RM do - so that if RM want Suarez, they'll need to find someone from their own squad to make the deal work (unless L'pool already have their eye on a player elsewhere that they think they can get). And while that player might not want to drop out of Chumps footie, that's what they'd be likely to be doing if they stayed at RM anyway.

I've heard nothing of it being just paper talk, but that's what I reckon it probably is. It doesn't seem to fit with the other stuff that's been going around.

It'll be interesting to see who Wenger gets in today. I reckon that's where most of any newly new-business* will happen today.

(* excluding the stuff we know is almost done, like the three newbies that L'pool had sat in the stands yesterday).

I was looking for a match to watch on Saturday afternoon, and there was a poor choice of unexciting games for a neutral.

But this one looked on paper like a kick-lumps-out-of-each-other match. Was it like that?

Looking at your squad you look a little short on goals to me, but that could be said about half the teams in the league. I know a few are tipping Stoke for relegation, but i think they will do ok under Hughes. I doubt the league positions will increase significantly, but can see similar positions being achieved with less money spent and slighlty better football. I think Hughes is generally ok if you dont give him too much money to play with.

Being a Leeds supporter, transfer deadline day is always a total non event.

To be fair, we have made some decent signings this window in Luke Murphy and Scott Wootton, and we've done well to hold onto Ross McCormack and Sam Byram (if Ken Bates was still in charge we'd have probably sold at least one of them, to Norwich no doubt), but we still haven't addressed a problem which has been present in our squad for about two years now - buying some wingers!

If we don't sign any wide players, we're going nowhere this season!
