honestly can't believe some of the knee jerking going on over utd after 6 games. You wouldn't think Moyes had the best record against city before yesterday and fergie also got stuffed by city. In my opinion last year greatly flattered utd by van persies amazing form and their two closest rivals being unsettled. I think fergie knew exactly what he was doing getting out when he did. Young was shocking, Ferdinand has lost pace and I've never rated wellbeck. I'd at least give Moyes time to built his own team and equally as I expect utd to be back in for baines in Jan and jags and distin the wrong side of 30 judge Martinez when he has to build his own defence.

Man United won't win the league, it's tough to call this year but it won't be them. If Ferguson was there I wouldn't rule it out since he had a certain factor about him. Say what you want about him, he was a brilliant manager. But finishing outside the top four? Behave. Van Persie, Rooney, Carrick, Vidic and De Gea are all good enough to get them there.

Re: Arsenal. People are saying they won't need a striker, as Walcott will apparently be world class in a few year's time. But I'm not sure how people can rely on possibility and speculation. Wenger has always been quite stubborn in his principles, that he doesn't want to be succesful and buy his way to the top like the big spenders Man United, Man City and Chelsea, and fair play to him because I'd rather see a team win the league without spending a lot, but in this day and age, if you want to show ambition, you have to get the chequebook out. Which he already has with Ozil.

I dont think there is mass confidence regarding Walcott, he is a player that divides opinion. What he lacks in his game means he will never be world class, however the premiership have had loads of successful forwards who did not reach world class status either.

Hmmm, not sure about that ... but then again I'm a big fan of Walcott.

There's no doubt that he has plenty of bad moments (such as when he kept getting thru on goal in the last week somewhen and not scoring), but he also has the ability to turn a game like few other players.

It's worth remembering that he was late to football so I reckon he'll peak later than many people are thinking, which means there's still plenty of improvement to come.

there's a difference between being good enough to get them there and actually getting them there.

(just to make it clear, I'm not saying that Utd will fail to get top 4, just that there's no guarantee).

How much those players are able to do is not merely related to the skills they might hold. It's about how well those skills are applied within the team framework that is football (where more than just their own skills come into play), and it's about the comparable strengths in other teams.

Utd might be the defending champions, but as far as individual skills go in the teams as they stand now, they're defo bettered by City, Chelsea and Spurs, and a more-than-reasonable case could be made for Arsenal and Liverpool at least matching them.

The only thing which will decide who comes out on top is the application of those skills by each whole team.

Welll, How bad are United? Or maybe not that, how about, How good was Fergie?

United were woeful, well, West Brom were brilliant today, and deserved the 3 points, that goal by Amalfitano was just a pearler and Sessegnon's wasn't too bad either!

Moyes tried to get away with what Fergie used to to, and rest a few players, but really he doesn't have that talent at his disposal, unfortunate for Hernandez and Kagawa, cause i certainly rate them more than Welbeck and Young/Nani/Anderson/Cleverley etc!

Chelsea 1-1 with Spurs, Torres dismissal was ludicrous, and the referee was wrong to send him off.

City losing 3-2, i've heard Villa were wonderful, and as much as i don't like Villa, I admire the way Lambert has stuck with kids, farmed out the older players, and they're still grinding out results.

Don't need to say anything about Arsenal do i? Another win, when all the other potential title chasers on the day dropped points, is more or less perfect for them!

Southampton got lucky, they may have dominated, but that was a stonewall penalty for Chamakh, and that could have changed the complexion, of the game completely.

West ham apparently battered Hull in the second half, but when you have no strikers, or at least good ones, you're in trouble!

Stonewall dive for chamakh. Please watch it bobs embarrassing. We are 2 points clear and apart from the game against the other mob we haven't hit top gear yet. I'm not getting carried away-far from it, however we have Santi, chamberlain, Rosicky, Podolslski and Walcott to come back in the next few weeks. If we can be within touching distance in January the title rakce will be interesting.
