So tight in the prem at the minute with only 3 points between 9th and a relegation place. Then at the top only 4 points between 1st and 6th, the Manchester clubs in no man's land.

Which reminds me I'm surprised that city haven't had any criticism this season. It's been all aimed at United and city have also lost 3 games and only 2 points ahead of United.

Big, big game for arsenal and Liverpool next Saturday. They both have had a pretty easy start to the season with only playing one of the 'big boys'. Be interesting how they react to a positive or negative result, especially arsenal.

Kevin McCabe is what happened to Sheff Utd if you believe Blades fans. No idea if the accusations of asset stripping, huge salaries, high interest on his loans, etc is true or not, but that is what they say.

surely he's just done what nearly every owner does, which is take money from the club while pretending to be putting money in.

The methods they use to do it varies - so not everything might be as visible as it might be with McCabe - but almost all of them are at it, your own owners not excluded.

PS: a WHU fan not having sympathy for SUFC? Who'd have thought it, eh? Blame the chairman for their downfall and not the cheating scum who had a big hand in that. ;)

Good result yesterday. Showing the old spirit of never giving up, patience, "the goals will come" etc. A positive step forwards.

Or alternatively, they got a bit lucky against a not-very-good team.

That ain't the sort of form that'll see Utd in the top 4 this season, even tho by this season's Utd standards it was a great result.

Platini wants to expand the World Cup to 40 teams....

What a fucking awful idea. The reason the WC is so much better than the Euros is there's fewer bland games, fewer weak teams. Diluting it with extra teams from North America and Asia will kill that.

The WC is meant to be a showcase of footie from around the world. FIFA are trying to make it that, rather than it being dominated by the established countries.

Why should Europe get preferential treatment by being over-represented against the rest of the world? If it's going to be stuffed full of European teams then we might as well call it the Euros anyway. ;)

If European teams aren't good enough to beat other European teams to win their place at the finals then they're not going to win the finals, so I don't really see the problem with reducing the number of European teams as FIFA are proposing.

But for any European who fears their country not qualifying for the finals, they should be quite happy with Platini's idea, as it changes nothing of the European representation.

What can be said for certain is that locking out most of the world via the rules as they currently stand is a w*nk idea .... unless we're going to hand the whole thing over to the yanks, only have yank teams, and call it the world series. ;)

I think the award for most pointless debate of the year award goes to the "Is Gerrard a top, top player" discussion which seems to have run for a few days for the following reasons.

1. Fergie has obviously chosen the wording to antagonize Liverpool fans and gain publicity and I cant believe several people have fallen for it hook, line and sinker.

2. The phrase "top, top" doesn't mean anything, also the statement that a player isn't top, top would indirectly suggest the player is top, which by my definition is a compliment.

3. I have never heard a wrexham fan call one of our players world class, I have however heard them call players top, top or something similar.

In conclusions, completely stupid and meaningless debate but did just what Fergie wanted.

I can see the argument about getting more teams from Asia and Africa in but I guess I'm part of the problem. In the upcoming world cup I probably wouldn't watch a game like say Jordon vs Costa Rica but with either Ronaldo or ibra missing out I would probably watch all games involving those two players so guess viewing figures could suffer with more of the European countries missing
