Football 2013-2014

Liverpool played a blinder in the transfer window last January, Im not convinced they brought in the right players in the summer.

I agree. People gave Dalglish a lot of shite for spunking loads of money on average players, but I think Rodgers has been worse.

Rodgers successes are Sturridge and Coutinho, but Sturridge couldn't have been anything but a gamble (tho, to be fair, it's a gamble I'd have taken, I'd been saying for several seasons that he was the best striker they could aim for), and judging by Rodgers other buys Coutinho couldn't have been less of a gamble.

And then there's the many others he's bought who mostly aren't good enough to even warm the bench.

Mind you, it could be worse. He could be AVB.

Well documented injury problems though, star striker hadn't played at all yet.. If Allardyce was a rookie, he may be in line for the chop but in my opinion, the board will look at this and think 'we ain't going as well as we hoped, but we ain't as bad as some of those goons down there'..

Hammers will be alright come seasons end, never gonna be higher than 8th in that league anyway, boring league..

The only thing that makes me think he isn't going, is because the Dave's would have to admit their failings too and who would West Ham seriously attract to use that squad to the best of it's ability?

I kind of understand him not dropping Nolan to a point, he has been fairly useless but he is the captain and it's never going to look great to the team or others to drop him.

That said it's blindingly obvious he can't play in the current system.....I can't remember if we've tried him in a proper midfield role yet? That could work (but you'd still have the problem of dropping Diame or sending him to the wing.)

The striker situation is all Allardyce's own making. He chose to gamble the vast majority of his budget on an injury prone player. The little he had left after the inevitable injury to Carroll, he spent not on a replacement striker but on another midfielder...

We will be in the relagation zone at the start of 2014 - I'm sure of it.

The only reason I can understand for not serving him his notice is the fact I can't name an obvious replacement.

Can only assume you've not watched many of the games and/or not seen the league table.

it looks like by S'land and Palace have a more than decent chance of staying up now (depending how they play, of course) - neither team is much adrift of those above them now.

I can't remember what I posted for teams to go down, but I think it included both Fulham and Stoke - because i had a feeling that s'land at least would get their shit together.

Well you're wrong, coz I've watched NONE of the games..

As far as the table goes, I'm comparing to my team, you're conceding around a goal a game which ain't bad for teams in our position, that's a good basis to build in which I'm sure will happen when Carroll is back..

Four points separate 8 teams, yes you'll be down that way but I cannot see you going down, Sam is too wise, he knows what he's doing.. Managers like hughton, Hughes, meulensteen I don't see as tough enough to get out should the situation continue..

Yep, he's definitely not doing that as much.. Depends what you want out if it though, is survival enough? Lowest west ham will finish is 17th.. For me, that's pretty decent for a team the size of west ham in that league..

They can build next season again for the year after and so on, is this their 2nd season back in the prem?

If it is, it's always been said, the second season is hardest..
