theramm
I think Alter Bridge under Aerosmith is more likely & Crue playing 3rd down under A7X. Avenged will need a big sub but I'm stumped as to who that could be? Maybe Judas Priest or Alice Cooper? Download have had big subs recently & the new STP don't fit in that category at all, unless of course it was a part of deal to secure Linkin Park? A7X are the smallest headliner so I'd guess they'll headline the Friday. LP on the Saturday & Aerosmith on the Sunday. 2nd stage headliners could be STP, BMTH & Twisted Sister? Just typing this got me depressed. First year my group's not bought early bird & if we do go next year I can't see anything being purchased before R&L and potentially Soni have announced. R&L first announcement was in November last year, fingers crossed they've got Pearl Jam for 2014.

luckysalt
It looks like an even worse version of Download 2011 and looks like LP might have been booked in the last week, people claiming on the forums that they are all but ready to announce, I wonder if they are trying to beat Sonisphere to the first announcement, as I said ages ago, that will be at the end of Nov. thewayiam
I'll tag this in with in cus its relevant. Sonisphere have NO plans to announce at the end of November, NONE whatsoever. Basically I spoke to my source at the weekend who hadn't had an update, saw all this today so I asked them can they go find out. What they came back with is regarding Download, they really aren't sure in terms of the last headliner, they have been heard the Linkin Park thing, but is unsure if it's happening. Regarding Sonisphere things are much clearer. Basically they're in talks with one particular big headliner. They've been in talks for some time and they are ongoing. If they nail this headliner they will announce straight away. If they do not get this headliner they won't be going ahead with Sonisphere UK next year AT ALL. So the talk of end of November is garbage, and Sonisphere UK rests all on this headliner signing up to play or not. It seems its 50/50. jump
Are we thinking it's AC/DC? Do we think metallica or pearl jam?
Black_Crow
Luckysalt, I know what band you're talking about and that's why I haven't mentioned them as it's not a guarantee, the band in question being AC/DC, but I have been told by my friend, that the other 2 headliners have been booked for quite some time, it's just a matter of logistics as to when they can announce which I was told is the back end of this year. thewayiam
It's AC/DC. Metallica are already in the bag from what I was told months ago.
Black_Crow
I originally said back end of the year if you want to check my post history, I recently said end of November as it looked likely, we shall see anyway and LuckySalt's word is no more reliable than mine. dentalplan
Lol come on. Your source says that Metallica and Pearl Jam are booked but if ACDC aren't then Sonisphere is off? If you're actually being told this then you should consider the strength of this source.
Black_Crow
I didn't mention anything about Sonisphere being off if they can't book one band, LuckySalt said that.

So one booked is Metallica and the other is? and then theyre chasing ACDC.... I'm pretty sure if they've already booked Metallica they wouldn't cancel it because ACDC didn't sign a deal because they could sell tickets on metallica if it was their only UK show! Black_Crow
You said 'I know who that band is' which sort of implies agreement.
Black_Crow
Luckys is completely more so, he's actually said stuff in the past that has been true and every efester pretty much on here I would imagine has his respect.
luckysalt
Im not sure what your source is for Sonisphere, but I trust mine completely and they've clearly said if this headliner doesn't agree, UK Soni will not be going ahead. BUT I have just asked and they say other headliners ARE booked already. Im not sure why they would cancel if they dont get this headliner but thats what I've been told. SOAD
Always fun watching people going on about their "sources". It begs please put attention on me. I used to know someone who worked pretty high up at Reading festival but I never asked him anything about the lineup in advance and I never expected him to be able to say what is going on. I just find it amazing that so many people seem to have sources who are willing to leak out info about the fest they work for. PS this isn't a knock at people with "sources" it just baffles me that it seems so easy to apparently get information that the festival is not willing to release itself. Understandable for sites like efestivals to find out stuff but not just random users. People in the industry must have loose lips. I'm just going to go with that if Sonisphere comes back I will be ecstatic and I will probably go pretty much regardless of lineup as there will be plenty for me to enjoy. It was such a great festival. Edited October 30, 2013 by SOAD
Black_Crow
Sorry LuckySalt, I wasn't having a dig at you, I was just being defensive. Our sources have said very similar things in the past year, so it's interesting to hear from 2 sides, but I have been assured that Sonisphere will be going ahead no matter what and the 2 headliners booked are solid enough. AC/DC would be the icing on the cake. Like you say, all information is important and obviously plans change for festivals all the time, it's hard to keep track of things. luckysalt
Ive been told different. What Ive been told is the headliners they already have they don't feel are big enough to sell Sonisphere alone, they need a big headliner and this is the one they are chasing. I am of the understanding they do not have Metallica. I don't know who they have or who they are chasing they won't say. Just that the two they have are not strong enough to support the return of Soni in the UK enough to make it financial viable. They need this big headliner to go ahead with a relaunch.
