t8yman
Meh, Linkin Park playing the best selling and therefore best album of the last decade is bit shit.

jump
It wasnt the last decade, it came out in 2000. Its 13 years old HT when it came out was fairly groundbreaking. It hasnt aged well IMHO.
theramm
The most positive thing to come out of these announcements is that it'll be easy to wait right up til' the festival to get tickets. Will be able to see who other festivals announce & make a fully informed decision rather than purchasing a ticket & hoping later announcements are favourable. If they sold 90k last year with Slipknot, Maiden & Rammstein I can't see 2014 topping 70k.
t8yman
The difference here is they may go even more commercial, to draw in the populist crowd. In which case they will sell more than they did last year. Unlikely but certainly possible. The thing that makes me hold off so much has been the crappy weather for the last 3 or 4 years. I'd much rather wait and buy a day ticket for the best day now, and base my final decision on the weather. I've had it with trudging through mud at donington, and sleeping in a tent in the rain. Its a young mans game I tells ye!
Black_Crow
AC has just said that STP won't be at Download, which we all know anyway. Sonisphere is going to have an amazing lineup.

Andy_47
I'll probably wait and see how the lineups go after May and see what fests I'll go to. Probably get a T day ticket for the sake of it and maybe find myself at Donnington for A7X and Linkin Park at least. jammy2211
3/4 so far for me so I'm happy - and has convinced a few mates to come as well as gf so all good so far. Reckon we'll plenty of our crew from last year return which is the most important thing now . The line up is 'weak' in the most objective sense of the word but I've liked A7X since the first album so it'll be nice to see them having gone all the way up to headliner. And LInkin Park were really good imo in 2011 so happy to see them again with what should be a very different setlist. Expect Fall Out Boy to be crap as they normally are on the big stages but like the new album / older songs. I guess I'm kinda realistic though, in all honest there arn't too many 'headliner' size bands I'd want to see at Download (within the tight musical spectrum it limits itself) so can't really get too disappointed. Would love for Pearl Jam or Biffy to be a shock announcement tomorrow but if Aerosmith does happen then hopefully they'll just stick BMTH on the second stage and my festival can close pretty nicely too . I'll sound more disappointed in the later announcements, as Download is great at filling its line up with a ton of bland, boring rock/metal bands who all played 2 years ago but apparently now warrant slightly higher slots. I get that this is kind of Downloads bread and butter but it pains me they don't give a few slots to branch out to a few 'different' bookings and instead will fill the slots with crap like Steel Panther, Slayer, Halestorm, Anthrax and Saxon. More just my personal taste but does get boring seeing the same bands float around the top 2 stages.

mrtourette
He he, I did that based on what that guy on the Download forums said were the bands playing, not who I said were playing, nice try though. kipper64
Not really seeing the appeal of LP. Think theyve headlined more than any other band at DL now, and whilst HT in full is a neay gimmick, its like less than 40 minutes long and the hits are usual set staples anyways - which is what most want to hear. 2 bands from 2011 (A7X and RZ) getting a bump up, one of 2011's headliners all making up the majority of top cards announced, bearing in mind DL2011 was the poorest selling DL since 2008, seems like a poor set of bands. Black_Crow
It seems odd that you would predict a band that you knew weren't playing, just because someone else said they were.
mrtourette
It's in the dead forum section, it's mostly filled with arguements between gazza and blackcrow about who's more right.
Asdaprice
Yeah download are have a bit of a nightmare with this one. Makes me wonder if soni really is back and have pulled in some bigger names already. Highly doubt that though! But yeah the albums in full thing really is abit of a gimmick now especially when it's being used to try and make a difference to identical headline set 3 years beforehand, even though it's a great album. FOB....well they should have kept in their hiatus. Can't see the new album being loved by the majority of metal heads. Avenged is the only sensible booking for me, I think a headline shot with them is good, and of all download esque bands to give the opportunity, they stand tall. Rob zombie....I mean Jesus the musics ok and all but.....it's a major festival. He is ridiculously underground to sub
