2014 Headliner predictions

I thought the Roses were working on a new album, which would be out in time I reckon for Glasto next year. Personally I think they are a nailed on booking.

Lady Gaga has been out of action purely because of a hip operation she needed or something of the likes. Like it or not, she could headline and would put on a hell of a show. Although she churns out standard chart fodder, she is a very talented song writer, singer and musician. I can see her easily headlining Pyramid and I could be persuaded to go along by the Mrs.

Also I'd like to put in a few predictions for just general bands that are playing.. Jessie J, Florence (could be 'subbing' - did I use that word right?! lol), maybe Pulp for a secret gig somewhere again, Thom Yorke is bound to appear, fat boy slim again, Kate Nash might move back to a bigger stage if she's writing a new album. Lily Allen would be a dream come true.. seen her 3 or 4 times but not at Glasto and found myself dancing WITH her this glasto in the rabbit hole. Love her so much and she's writing a new album so it could happen. Also, what about Pink?

I'll take your bet. :D

It's free money, as I already know who Eavis has lined up for next year (tho of course what he has lined up over a year in advance doesn't necessarily happen), and that I can't see Oasis reforming next year - which they'd have to do if they were going to do Glastonbury the year after (cos they'll take a big pay-day from someone else in preference to Glasto for the first summer of reformed showed).

Seeing as this bet will be as easy as taking candy from a baby, I'll let you back out right now if you'd like?

Yes they were, they were even asked the year they broke up. http://www.contactmusic.com/news/oasis-snubbed-glastonbury_1141040

Why do you assume that? You have no evidence to suggest that just as they are likely to make a comeback they would seek as much money as possible. The Stones are known for this yet still played.

So any band under SJM can't play another festival except V?

Flawed arguments, the fact is you probably just hate Oasis. Which is absolutely fine, but just say that rather than saying all this.

erm ... you've rather blown your own argument there with your own evidence, and yet you've not seen it.

They were asked to play Glasto in 2009, that article says.

Now, in 2009 which festival did they play instead, after having turned down Glastonbury?

Want to have a guess for why they chose V over Glastonbury that year?

In recent times? You mean almost 10 years ago since they last played? Oh come on, did you see Mumford on Sunday night?!

No idea what you're on about, but wasn't that the year Noel moaned about Jay Z? Come on, it all added to the spectacle of when Jay Z appeared (which was magnificent BTW).

Have you seen this interview? Watch it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23094504

I'll make it £75 if we put it to 3 years....otherwise I'll stick!

three years is longer than I'm confident for betting about, because I reckon an Oasis reform might possibly happen in time for summer shows in 2015 (it just won't happen for before then) ... which might see them at Glasto in 2016.

So I'll take up your offer of 2 years, and a free fifty quid for me. :D

If you want to be a fanboy ignorant to evidence and facts, then that's fine, I just wouldn't want you to be disappointed when you have to buy a V ticket. I'm also fairly confident I would have seen them several times more than you back when they were still relevant, which admittedly, was a long time ago. Just trying to save your disappointment.

I'm not a fan but yeah I wouldn't be surprised. He could definitely handle it. It'll be interesting to see the size of the crowd he gets at Reading this year sandwiched between heavier acts. I reckon he'll do alright out of it.

£50 done, I tell you what...as this is a Glasto forum and we're all charitable type bods how about the loser donates £50 to the winners charity of choice? If I lose I'll even scan up the receipt for all to see? (Or send to you still anyway and you can pay however you like?.......You can see I'm not so confident now lol, your 3 years thing makes alot more sense but I'll stick with what we agreed!!).

yeah, happy for it to be for chariteeee. :)

Not just that but the Stone Roses didn't really make much money first time around. Some fair arguments and maybe 2015/16 is a better bet.

Nice to see some well balanced points rather than just 'Oasis have a bad relationship with Glastonbury' without actually thinking it through and saying why.
