Didn’t do Murder Ballads in full so 0/10.

An incredible performance, as someone who used to only really to listen to Boatsmen’s Call and Murder Ballads, I thought they were incredible performers. It made me enjoy Wild God a lot more, especially  Long Dark Night.

Not sure if this is a controversial take but I did not enjoy the Cinnamon Horses to Joy stretch (clearly very talented though). He won me back with Mercy Seat though and the rest of the show was fab.

i am not sure if you heard some of the cries from the crowd - “play some rock and roll……!”. These are the folks who want to hear Red Right Hand and similar for the whole gig.

I'm seeing him on a friday, so I'm expecting a lot of Those Types.

Had a very nice bit around me in seating at Leeds, bar one fellow who kept trying to strike up conversation with everybody during support, interval and main.

He vanished maybe six songs into the Bad Seeds, so not sure where he want.

Echoing some of the more lukewarm comments about Cardiff last night. I'm admittedly a very casual Cave fan - knew maybe 11 of the songs last night, but most of that is because I listened to Wild God a few times - and I did find the show just gently fall into the 'little bit too morose' section at times.

Partly think this comes down to Nick not having a particularly diverse sound - he knows what works, and sticks to it - but mainly think the order of the setlist is a bit of a shocker. Jubilee Street being played so early feels like madness, as it gets the crowd super buoyed up, only for him to then do 45 minutes of deep-cuts from a not particualrly lively album. I though From Her To Eternity and Tupelo were great, but otherwise, pretty much the entire run from Long Dark Night to Carnage had me a touch absent.

That being said, even seeing him with this odd pacing was an impressive hustle. He's been doing this for 40 years now, and you can tell how comfortable he is on stage. I've managed to get free tickets to two gigs this year, Nick last night, and Bruce at the Milennium in the Summer, and they're both very similar contextually for me. Two heralded live artists that I've largely failed to appreciate on record, but both have provided live shows to win me over (although, that being said, Bruce was an all-timer for me, who knew 7 songs and was sat up in the Gods. Nick was purely a 'nice evening out').

How’s the ticket sales for this tour? At Cardiff last night I think all the seats were taken but the floor wasn’t quite as rammed as it can be

Cardiff Arena does only have about 11 seats tbf, not even sure the band would fit up on the balcony

Last gig I saw there was floor standing with tiered seating from floor up to balcony. I'm guessing it's normally just an open floor with the balcony used for accessibility needs?
