Zoo Music Girl
I enjoy the chatting/"banter" too much. Why miss out on another thing I love? Plus, you'll be so out of the loop when you get your tickets in April. NFiR NFC Edit: I find it necessary to stress that the "sauces" was a deliberate mistake! Do I enjoy it? Or is it just a desperate attempt to feel connected to something no longer available to me? Christ I'm such a goth.
zero000
Just listened to Push The Sky Away for the first time. I wasn't expecting much at all but it's fantastic, I'm majorly regretting seeing Smashing Pumpkins now at Glastonbury. I feel like I've come round to the dark side! I cant bear to listen to jubilee street on record after hearing it live...

dentalplan
I don't regret seeing the Pumpkins as I thought they were fantastic and the crowd around me were very good, whereas reports from my mates who went and saw Nick and co. said he was outstanding but the crowd weren't so much. I'm regretting not catching a gig on the tour but I've hopes that they'll return, as they've just announced their second leg of a US tour. I found PTSA really good but it was released just as I was discovering all of the albums so it hasn't had as many plays as some of the older ones. Zoo Music Girl
I saw the last half hour of Pumpkins. Was good fun but not in the same ballpark. I reckon there will definitely be some more UK dates next year. Don't know where you're based dentalplan but do not give up hope!

Wonderful times Jubilee street was heart stoppingly good that day, and set the tone for the rest of the gig. One of the greatest glastonbury sets I've seen. Crowd were shit where I was but it didn't matter in the slightest. Incidentally, here's an interesting video of the great man talking about his live show (if you're on the mailing list you will have seen it anyway):

Sigh, the gigs seem so long ago now. Going to see inferior gigs like that public service thing is no good. Cave has ruined live music for me. Well if they play one show in the North, I'll consider myself pretty lucky, but I'll try for whatever seeing as it'll probably be the last opportunity for four or five years. there was plenty of room down the front for nick cave where the atmosphere was electric. Wonderful times Jubilee street was heart stoppingly good that day, and set the tone for the rest of the gig. One of the greatest glastonbury sets I've seen. I've watched the Glastonbury set a couple of times on Youtube (I know it doesn't compare) and yeah, it did seem there were pockets of the crowd where they were really into it and not just killing time in between poppy acts. If I was stood in the area around the interaction with the lass in the white dress, I don't think I'd forget that for the rest of my life - it looked intense even watching it on a video. Zoo Music Girl
At least 10 times! Go back and read the whole thread as it is an improving experience I would agree and add No More Shall We Part but every album is brilliant. Christ, don't say that! I don't have a Glastonbury ticket - I'm already a woman on the edge heh it's ace that. Sigh, the gigs seem so long ago now. Going to see inferior gigs like that public service thing is no good. Cave has ruined live music for me. Yep, me too. Nothing compares to him. That Koko gig was less than a month ago and feels like forever. The National and Arcade Fire were both brilliant last week but he sets the bar so bloody high. I love that bit of video of him as it's *exactly* how I would describe his performance. Also hints at how much he enjoys it still, so there won't be a gap of five years. Zoo Music Girl
Nooooooooooooooooooooo Not the comfy chair... Sorry jeffie. I can only apologise! carlosj
Aye Jubilee Street was the real standout track from the first listen. What are the most accessible or best Nick Cave albums from there? Depends on your own taste as to which is most accessible (edit - but the previous posts like Russy's are a great start). And No More Shall We Part was the first album I got (and my favourite), but some think that's less accessible than earlier albums, which I've now got but listen less to. And now, heresy, when I got Push The Sky Away, it was a slow burner for me at first, but now I rate it highly and seeing Nick and the lads live has helped too. I've seen many gigs, mostly in intimate clubs which boost the better bands' performance, but Nick in London recently is by far and away the best one I've been to. Yes, Nick can ruin it for many bands, but my restorative antidote will be Deer Tick in January, see them if you can. dentalplan
Christ, don't say that! I don't have a Glastonbury ticket - I'm already a woman on the edge Well I didn't say Grinderman wouldn't be around.

By the way, Henry's dreamsis back in my number one spot. I'm loving Jack the ripper since the live gigs
carlosj
Well I didn't say Grinderman wouldn't be around. That was my 2nd favourite gig :-)) but didn't they just reform for coachella? Another chance to see them would be great.
Zoo Music Girl
Well I didn't say Grinderman wouldn't be around. I forgive you then! Grinderman for Glasto 2014? Ugh even typing that makes me feel queasy... Russy, I always thought you wrote off Jack The Ripper a bit swiftly. It's a live classic, one of my favourites. Henry's Dream will never be my favourite album though.

Osama Jim Laden
Didn't Grinderman say they were finished for a bit? And if they didn't, what stage would they go on? Couldn't see them on the pyramid or other stage unless they went on earlyish, wouldn't really suit them though.. No really what the JP is about.. They were badass man, for their 2nd album was at the opening night of the tour in Notts & they were really up for it..
