Elbow to headline in 2014

I wont be watching Elbow, but if they do top the bill then good on them, and good on the Eavii for pushing them up. The Pyramid headliner each year does not have to be incredibig, in fact I'd prefer it if they weren't, obviously for cases like The Stones then it makes loads of sense to pull out all the stops, but I'd rather see Elbow get it than those washed up auld tossers calling themselves Fleetwood Mac. It's true that Elbow's music is pretty easy to fall asleep to, but there's passion in it, they've never tried to be attention-grabbing or sell out, and I can enjoy their music when I'm in the mood for it. There's nothing offensive about them, they've been around for a while, why shouldn't they get a shot at playing the biggest show of the year? And finally, taste a pint of Build A Rocket Boys and I guarantee you'll start finding it very hard to hold any ill-will towards them, lovely stuff.

I loved Elbow's performance in 2011 and no band takes me back to Glastonbury when I hear them as much as Elbow but I don't think it's an overly imaginative headline act possibly even a bit of a lazy one, they are are a great sub act in my opinion but will watch them headline if there is noone better on at the time, I'd be pleased for them though they deserve their crack

Elbow = perfect Glasto headliner imo. Very similar to Coldplay's history with the festival and I think they deserve their shot. They'll also put on a really feel good factor performance, made especially special by a sunny hot day. They gave me a Glasto moment in 2011 with One Day Like This to a warm dusky evening, it was magical, so good on em if they do headline. Cheers Efest for the heads up.

With all the new announcements and rumours do you think its because a line up announcement is imminent or because Emily and bands are just being a lot more open about Glasto this year.

There wasnt half as many SR or official confirmations last year I seem to remember it was a case of going from next to nothing to the whole line up out.
