Elbow; music for middle-aged Guardian readers who work in the public sector, have a beard, shop at Debenhams and have discovered a taste for real ale. Which describes me to a tee and could be why I have a real soft spot for them.

True i am an old codger :) . its just that i haven't really seen any of grace under pressure and asleep at the back live after only getting into them after LOFW. I first went to see them live at the SNN launch and beyond and even then they didnt play many faves. Admittedly i havn't seen them live at a large venue other than Glasto. I saw them in the Apple stores with just an audience of 200 lucky people, and then a the Roundhouse and at Glasto. never have i heard them play my fave track ' Newborn' , i guess i never will :( , sods law i will not go this year at G and they will play it!

Quite astounded by some of the opinion on here. The new album is far from dull - it's complex and beautiful. You just have to listen to it properly.

I'm relistening through they're early stuff and it's good but it ain't half repetitive. The first two albums are all really samey. So I find it rather ironic anyone would say the last two albums are dull...
