Elbow to headline in 2014

I have been lucky enough to have seen Elbow 7 times, and I have never seen them give a poor performance. They know what they are doing and will be a very 'worthy' headliner. Guy is a great front man. Definitely not everyones cup of tea, but they will certainly justify the slot they have been given

Just hope the next album lives up to my very high expectation, Build a Rocket Boys was a bit of a dip in form in my opinion

Well according to wikipedia Elbow have won 6 awards in their career while Mumford have won 11.

Or if you go off cd sales, Mumfords last album was number 1 here and in America while Elbows came in at number 2.

What planet are you on?

you can't begrudge Elbow the slot. They've earned it. Last two albums have sold really well, been doing big tours, they've got a big back-catalogue to draw from, history with the festival.

They've got Pyramid headliner written all over them.

However good it might have been, I've not seen one comment that suggest it was any sort of outstanding 'Glastonbury moment', it was only a great band being great.

That's where the difference is likely to be. Elbow have brought that 'moment' more than once to their Glastonbury performances. I don't doubt that they'll do it again.

Just goes to show how tenuous the oft-mentioned "Glastonbury Moment" is if the Stones doing You Can't Always Get What You Want isn't one yet Beardy sinking a pint in his wellies is.

hmmmm .... I've yet to see a single post by anyone who was moved to tears by the stones. There's been countless numbers of them from more than one of elbow's performances.

Don't forget, your own opinions on this are heavily influenced by your huge liking of the stones. I could take or leave either band myself and so have no personal investment in anything I'm stating, and what I'm stating is a reflection of what gets said of both.

Solid booking that. If the other two are a bit are unusual and imaginative (and I know at least one of them will properly surprise people ;)) then I've got no problem with this at all. Good shout.

What great news...Saw them at Leeds and fell in love and my girlfriend who wasnt conviced that day came away and said they were amazing. I then have been to every gig I could of Elbow's and I still come away feeling better than i did the first time!

They are a brilliant band, have a good history with Glastonbury, I saw Guy Gavey watching an act on the other stage this year in his yellow anerack, he did the string quartet for Mardy Bum this year...

There latest song they played on the arena tour was very good!

They are just incredible and im so over the moon by this news!
