Not tonight, please. There's a sleepover, there's enough on, I'm fearing for my sanity :crying:

Foggy here still but no precipitation.

Yoghurt update. It's, well, yoghurty. It finished this morning as a standard yoghurt, albeit warm and cooling down after the 37.7-48 degree processing, but I decided to strain it a bit, to make it thicker. That sounds flash, but really it's just wanging (culinary term) it in the provided strainer to strain off the whey (liquid) to make the curd (remaining yoghurt) a bit thicker (as that's what Greek yogurt is). It tastes like it should do, as I was worried it would go wrong on the first try.

My only beef is that I still have to heat up the milk before adding the yoghurt starter, as I thought buying UHT milk would bypass that, but it wasn't too much of a faff, and we now have yogurt to add to the next batch.

Mrs CJ is getting soya yogurt next, as she's lactose intolerant, so that will save the pennies from now on.

I'm trying to delay wolfing down the pizza now. The dough was starting to escape the bowl this morning, but it was in the oven at 6.50am being pizzafied.

morning all, sunny again here. This is weird, we don't get weather like this.

Yoghurt maker sounds like a great idea (can you put it on a stick? sorry) and homemade pizza sounds yum. Inspiring me to bake something now.

Lucy yes that would count I reckon but would crawling home afterwards count too?

This was about £40, which I'll depreciate over the next 37 years. There are cheaper ones, but I picked this one for the timer and that there was no need for 'starter kits' like EasyYo needs, so I didn't have more expenses later on. Other ones start around £15-20, but I didn't bother checking out the more expensive ones. It's basically zapping normal milk before cooling it, then adding some yoghurt and bunging it together in the maker, and then remembering to eat it, instead of leaving it in the fridge for too long like I normally do. I have a vague idea I need calcium and stuff from dairy, so despite not being keen on it, I'll eat yoghurts, and raita with curries, mmmmm.

Anyway, when all is said and done

pas de putain de pluie, pas de putain de compromis y'all

We are going to the Harrogate Flower Show tomorrow. OK, with that and a yoghurt maker, I know how it sounds, but I don't vote for Cameron or Farage or read the Daily Mail. But it does mean that we will get absolutely soaked outside for the cause. This has to all get used up before June.

NFR NFC y'all.

I like the "no starter" needed. This has put me off buying one in the past as I thought it looked expensive! I wonder if you could use other milks, e.g. not cows? like soya, almond or coconut? That would suit me down to the ground!

Just use a full fat yoghurt for the first culture (not fat free, flavoured or drinking) as those have additives or thickeners which affect the results (as you'll start using part of a batch to start off the next batch). I use skimmed milk so the fat gets reduced that way. The next one will be soya.

Sounds just right for me...I'm off to Amazon ..via the efest link of course.....thanks Carlosj
