Things you'll do differently next year?

Take more spirits rather than crates of cider. Discovered that drinking cider makes me super tired but spirits liven me up a bit.

Try and stay up past 2am would be good too - all the walking just knackers me out.

Explore Silver Hayes/Block 9/Common a bit more.

Edit: Also didn't manage to find the Circus fields etc. Need to that definitely!

Need to find somewhere different to camp too. I liked camping near the Park but would like to be nearer Other Stage/John Peel/Williams Green/Pyramid as thats were we spent most of our time. Only went the Park Stage on the Sunday. Loved being near the sign but it's not the be and end all.

Next time I plan on seeing more bands and planning more in advance. I did that in 10 & 11 but this time decided to not stick to such a tight schedule. I wandered more, sat up on the hill by the Park for hours, spent more time in the Theatre & Caberet fields, generally let the mood take me and it was great. However, now I'm home, looking back there are quite a few bands I wanted to see that I missed. I need to find a happy medium.

After 3 trips I still haven't watched anyone on The Park (apart from way up the hill), the Acoustic Stage or Croisant Neuf. I need to ensure I do that (if I get a ticket*).

*Ah! It's back!

Next time i'll make sure not to get there when the gates open at 9pm where we got little to no sleep before joining the cue. After the long wait and finally setting up the tents i promise myself to get something to eat before i visit the brothers bar and down 4 pints of 7% Pear Cider ! Whilst sitting in the sun soaking up the atmosphere of finally being there after a two year wait and getting the taste of the necter i lost all faculties after the fourth and had to be escorted back to my tent where i woke some hours later face down on the grass between our group of tents. I went in my tent to wake up some 12 hours later!

Try to see more music

Just set up at areas rather than relentless walking as I was completely broken by Saturday, could barely stand on my very sore feet nevermind walk. I left the Stones as just couldn't cope & watched Chase & status sitting on someone elses camping chair (kind people) in middle of the crowd....I was getting strange looks but could barely stand!!

Spend more time in the circus/caberet fields & Avalon as liked it round these places

Eat more as barely ate anything over the 5 days there no wonder energy levels were shot to shreds!

Do not stay up past 4am every night...I'm just not built to cope with this s***t anywmore lol

however do want to do more at SE corner as loved The Common as went to that place were 2 artists drew a person which was quite good with the different painting techniques.

If I get tickets I'll be using this baby next year to carry stuff in;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/stable-wheelbarrow-/121136556479?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT&nma=true&si=xjRa7Hl8i6lTvRbiuMYimE9knck%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

Bought it on ebay today for £30. It's actually bigger than it looks - which was already quite big.

After the headliners we spent most nights in the greenfields and circus fields watching stuff, sitting around and chatting etc. that is quickly becoming my favourite part of it.

Apart from bands I actually want to see I've no interest in sitting around in massive crowds with my hand in someone's food by the Other or Pyramid stages. You could be anywhere doing that. The Other Stage was particularly grim this year I thought.

The South East corner doesn't really interest me either, for the first time this year I didn't even go for a look around. I regret that because it is impressive, but I only do the tourist type stuff of walking round and back put again. I don't really like the music they play up there. Late at night I like somewhere a bit more chilled out where you can chat to your mates and have a laugh and a drink.

Im learning not to make plans at Glasto to much, but my one plan for this year was to spend one afternoon in the circus field drinking cocktails, which me and my better half did on the Saturday and we had an amazing time.

Next year my one goal is to completely miss the headliners one night and spend the full night in the SE Corner then head to the Stone Circles for sunrise.

Next year I mostly won't run up a hill with a steaming hot cup of coffee to get a better view of the fireworks, only to trip over the guy rope of daughters tent and land flat on my face cartoon stylee covered in said steaming coffee.

God I went down with a clatter, spent the next few days aching all over and rubbing the hurting bits. :(

There was a quantity of good rum in that coffee as well.

Definitely take less stuff. I'm gradually cutting it but still too much. I'm down to:

  • One pair of shorts
  • A t-shirt/shirt for each day
  • Boxers each day
  • Three pairs of socks
  • Two pairs of football socks
  • Hoody for night time
  • Waterproof jacket

Then my tent, sleeping bag, mat, chair, toiletries and booze.

Sadly my tent is about 10 years old - and a four man - so it weighs a disgusting amount compared to some of the new ones. Perhaps I need to invest in something newer and lighter.

Agree on the 8am gate open. We went down Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and didn't sleep. Ended up running on empty Wednesday night absolutely munted and the knock on slowly got us come later on.

Suppose that's another benefit of tipi etc in that you can just waltz in and not have to worry about space.

Oh and definitely bring more wine in a bag or wylde wood!

I think I'm pretty happy on the whole with how this year went but next year I plan to:

- Sleep more! Not very rock'n'roll but the sleep deprivation nearly killed me this time. Thinking of switching to a quieter area (we've only ever camped at Park Home) or even a campervan if my friend learns to drive in time...

- Spend more time in Circus, Cabaret, Acoustic and Green Fields, as well as the SE corner. Spend less time at Pyramid and Other.

That's it I think. May have to explore different methods of arrival too depending on who comes next time. Could be a smaller group.

Shameless advert. Now we've settled on a caravan and it worked so well at Glasto, I'll be selling my trailer tent. My co-owner has also converted a VW camper so the TT is surplus to requirements and is sitting in mother-in-law's garage in Cardiff.

Excellent condition. Folds down to next to nothing but opens out to two comfortable double bedrooms. Has very large sleep in awning, cooker, grill, sink etc and lots of extras. £1,000 ono. PM me if interested.
