just out of interest, what did people get up too on the first night?

we'd got to the site by about 4pm, to find that our preferred camping spots were basically all filled (park home, and dairy was nearly full. & with it being so hot, didn't wish to keep walking forever to find a spot so ended up in baileys (which to be honest im glad we did, suited us perfectly really, and i'd probably go there again)

after setting up tent, taking it easy, headed in for our very first look at the site around 7/8ish, mates in camper van east had arrived so hooked up with them at solstice bar, lots of drinking then followed, and we ended up in the Rock the kasbah bar for rest of the evening, good time was had (they were playing the 2manydjs ' as heard on radio soulwax' cd, hadn't heard that in a while and we were up dancing around. called it quits rather early (2/3ish i think), as had been a long drive from scotland, didnt have much sleep the previous evening and didnt want to ruin the thursday.

Had a BBQ brunch in the camper-van fields and headed in late afternoon to get the wrist bands. Bimbled about for a bit and chilled in the Greenfields for a few hours in the sun watching the elemental ceremonies........

Pottered about down around the field of Avalon and Bellas field for a bit checking out some circus rehearsals and then had a few scoops around Williams green before heading back out to the camper-van to put the wee ones to bed. Sat up looking at the view across the valley (our view took in John Peel all the way around to the SE corner and was pretty special with me dubbing it as pure Glasto porn), watched the fireworks across the valley and listened to the sounds rumble up the hills. Went to bed with a smile on my face knowing there was another 4 days to enjoy...........

I was well & truly hammered by about 7pm. Socialized with our neighbours from Sheffield who let is kindly camp with them & the headed to Brothers Bar.

All I remember after this is breaking a wooden bench on the upper floor of the Avalon Inn when I sat down.

I think half of Glastonbury were at the brothers bar on the Wednesday. It was busier Wed and Thurs than the rest of the weekend!

One thing I couldn't get my head round was cider was cheaper there than the other bars?!

Went to Stone Circle and watched the fireworks and bonfire. I've not done that before, I'm usually at camp on the first night catching up with fellow campers who I only see once a year or so.

Glad I went out this year though, the fireworks were great!

Stayed at the cider bus meet from about 7ish after wondering down with campsite mates for a bite to eat just before..

Saw the fireworks from there...at some point everyone was leaving so I did to :P Wondered to tent and woke up said campsite mates about 1am they say, who had been sleeping since before it got dark...tried to get them to come to the stone circle...they didn't want to.

Want off to try and find stone circle and got lost before with my Somerset cider hazed vision before returning to the camp :D

(Reports say I also chucked up during my time at the cider bus to before getting back on it!)

What a lovely evening to start the festival :D

hehehe. I love Wednesday, loads of people I love in the same place, some I'd not seen for a year, some for a couple of years. Family and friends, people meeting and chatting, fucking beautiful.
