T In The Park 2014

Because whilst he got a huge crowd every other stage was empty. T has saturated itself in the Calvin/Guetta/SHaM direction and it's not getting enough attendees. Just about all the fans that want to see him have been and seen him at T. To survive they need to provide variety and credible alternatives. Booking him again is suicide. He will not make teh festival sell more tickets.

Calvin won't be back again, it would be a terrible repeat and a massive mistake for T. Don't get me wrong I don't mind him, got some good tunes but I've seen him and wouldn't be fussed again. T need to make it interesting and even if they want to keep it dance orientated on the Radio 1 stage for headliners why not take them from this lot;

The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, Tiesto, Avicii, Basement Jaxx.

3 of them would make it very interesting and thats not even the main stage headers!

no but he seems to brings the crowds everytime. if they booked him again but also booked more variety in guitar bands.

i reckon he makes sense as a sub but i admit they should wait until he has another album out 1st.

I think Biffy, Arctics and a big Pop act would sell the fest out

Kings of Leon are still a big live draw at the moment, so they'd be headlining if announced, unless they were subbing behind a supergroup. They certainly wouldn't sub behind Arctic Monkeys or Biffy Clyro.

As for the pop act, I'm rooting for Katy Perry, but that's more hopeful than anything else.

Biffy's stock has gone up massively since nailing their L/R headline slots. They are huge favourites at T and would easy be a bigger draw than the Arctics now. If they don't headline T this year I'll eat my hat. The only downside is that they'll cost TCGE a lot more than they would have this year! :)

Yeah I meant that blur would be a bigger draw than the arctics

Biffy did their cause no harm at all with their reading slot and are hugely popular at T so would be a bigger draw than the arctics also

I love the arctics but its only a couple of years since the last played T it would come down to the whole repetitive bookings things again,

RE: Kings of leon, I can see them falling into a stereophonics position where they end up being perennial subs, hit their peak but can still put a set out, though that might be a year or two down the line still.

Arctic Monkeys and Biffy will both be massive draws (I'd argue both bigger atm than Blur, and i say as a fan of all of them) both just off successful headline spots, AM out next week and a huge sold out tour, 3 year gap between last headline spot and still as big if not bigger, agree that Biffy will probably announce a tour without a Scottish gig too just to help their day. Still probably Gaga for the third day, though I'm going to throw Muse in there too, going by some of their recent shows, they could be set for some 20th anniversary type gigs

The Justin Timberlake/Jay-Z show would be a wonderful choice, but wouldn't happen. I'd settle for either or. Take That are in the studio at the moment and would be my other choice as far as a pop act goes.

Biffy Clyro would probably be a bigger draw at this moment in time than Arctic Monkeys, and they're Scottish which adds to that for T as far as sales, so that would be a no brainer decision really.

Eminem... I could live with that.

It certainly has been the last few years. But things change. Loads of bands have headlined T in the past and ended up playing (much) lower down in the future.

I think it was 2011 which had something like 7 previous headliners playing at some point over the weekend.

I would say this could happen soonish but it depends on how the new album does, they are a headliner at festivals if they're booked next year and if that does well will stay a solid headliner like the killers have proven

Not sure if they are but would be a brilliant booking nonetheless.

That would restore my faith in T with a good set of headliners.

Haha, fair play! Hoping for a good T lineup next year, it's make or break for T next year I believe

As much as I love FM (and I'm going to see them in 4 weeks!) I don't think they would be well placed as a T headliner. I don't think the crowd would "get" them.... A lot would only know them due to covers, the grand prix, and that dancing pony advert, also, with them playing the Hydro next month I don't know if they would have enough pulling power to attract people who wouldn't normally go T.

I think if they were going for a oldie they would have to go for one with more "wow" factor that hadn't played in Scotland for a while like The Stones or Bowie - acts like this would pull in people who wouldn't normally go to T - like I think the Roses did in 2012.
