Tobieski
Green Day headlined in 2005, and were at the first festival I think? Apart from that I'm in agreement yeah, Green Day and Daft Punk are both miles bigger than The Prodigy

Muppetmark
The Prodigy have headlined the NME stage the last few times they have played T and they have only got bigger since. I'm not convinced that Daft Punk would come close to The Prodigy live. Green Day are on the way down for me. They need to release something substantially better than the material they have produced since American Idiot, for me to want to see them again. Lor1
because green day are a huge band and would command headline status anywhere they played. Furthermore they are a headline sized band who havent played anywhere in scotland since the 10th febuary 2005 in the SECC and that would create a level of demand that would be more than headline worthy. They are popular amongst many age ranges and also they are a headline or nothing band. Prodigy could still arguably headline R1 (Depending on the new album). Furthermore muse only played in 2010 and arctics only played in 2011, so there is no rarity in either act playing. Green day have never played T in the Park and Daft punk havent played t in the park since 1997 (where they subbed the slam tent). they currently have a phenomenal demand and are a headline or nothing band. DomDom1984
Green Day played in 2002 for the first time I think. That could be very wrong though. Almost certain they never played the first one.

Muppetmark
Think your right, them and Foos below Chemical Bros. I think Green Day, like Muse these days probably fall under the line of it doesnt matter what crap they bring out, they will always be considered a headliner type band. As for The Prodigy, I'd always consider them stick ons for R1 headliners, dont cover the wider range for mainstage headliners anymore but will always get a large crowd to compete with the larger acts on main opposite (like playing v Eminem the last time they played) and a show that only fits the dark Just read Muppetmarks last post, when you read things like American Idiot idiot is almost 10 years old (I wasnt huge on it saying this) it doesnt half make you feel older
frankblack
I don't remember a time before American idiot, American idiot was the album that grew up with me. It's an inspiration to my generation
harryomatic
furthermore if green day were to play t in the park next year they could do soemthing similar to what they did at reading and play american idiot (instead of dookie) in full, as it is the 10th anniversary of that album. A show like that would guarentee a lot of tickets flying out and people coming from all over europe for that.

Muppetmark
It was the last decent record they put out. Everything since has been awful, and they seem to have run out of ideas. I can't see them coming back to perform American Idiot in full since that was the album they headlined with on their last appearance. My comment about The Prodigy compared to Daft Punk is that The Prodigy would blow them off the stage, and I think they would be a stick on NME headliner. I would expect that Daft Punk would rely on special effects and lightshows to make up for their lack of a front man.
frankblack
ok as an album 21st centuary breakdown was a bit crap but it has some good songs off there. Remember this entire argument was started by you suggesting they would be a tuts headliner i highly doubt they will be back, but there is a little flutter in the green day forums over a few american idiot in full dates. The prodigy are a spectacular live band, but dont have the draw to command headline status.
DomDom1984
Disclaimer: This man is not a spokesperson for his entire generation, many of us found American Idiot to be an overblown piece of shit, with the exception of the title track. People tend to get flack for using the term "jumped the shark", but it's a perfect analogy here, Green Day lost what made them fun for me, a once energetic and entertaining pop-punk band that made their name from playing songs about w*nking came out with a pretentious, pseudo-political, self-important records that was w*nk. Of course this is all subjective, I just want to point out there are differing viewpoints here and I'm right.
TheGaffer
Here's my go at a 2014 prediction... Main: Biffy Clyro Daft Punk Arctic Monkeys Paramore Jessie J The Vaccines Franz Ferdinand Vampire Weekend Jake Bugg Travis Ellie Goulding Fall Out Boy Paolo Nutini James Blunt The Wombats R1: Deadmau5 The Prodigy Avicii Bastille Weezer Example Brandon Flowers Twin Atlantic Rudimental King Tut's: Fatboy Slim Manic Street Preachers Disclosure CHVRCHES Miles Kane Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Icona Pop MGMT John Newman Transmissions Neutral Milk Hotel Lorde PEACE Just a rough shot at it, not what I personally want, just what I feel is realistic. I think everyone I've listed here is touring next year and is likely to play T in the Park. Maybe chuck Primal Scream and Madeon in somewhere. DomDom1984
Primal Scream will be on the lineup for certain. No idea where, and I have no desire to see them, but they'll be there. If PEACE play it'll be on a bigger stage. I think that's a good attempt though. I'd be more than happy to see most of the acts you've thrown on there. Possibly with the exception of MGMT, The Vaccines and Deadmau5.
