THE READING AND LEEDS COMMUNITY REVIEW THREAD

Introduction

Hello to all and welcome to the Reading and Leeds review thread. In here, each week, we will review 3 albums reaching across all genres of music. We will keep you up to date with all new releases, and give you the best advice on which albums you yourself should go out and buy. Best of all, we will offer all you aspiring musical journalists out there in the community the chance to say "up yours" to the shit reviews of NME and the popular media outlets and be recognised by your fellow community members as each week we will offer one of you the chance to become "Reviewer of The Week" and with it receive the prestigious reward of being able to select one album for the community to review the following week.

Rules

• Entries MUST be in the form of 1 post ONLY (any multiple posts will not be recognised)
• Entries MUST be a minimum of 100 words
• All entries must be in at latest 5 days after the albums for the week have been chosen
• This will allow an extra day for the community to vote for their "Reviewer of The Week" and one for the community to select the other 2 albums to review
• There is no set format for the entries, but the review must end with a rating out of 10, allowing me to take an average and rank the albums based on community reception
• Entries MUST be serious
• Plagiarism will result in a ban from entering any future weeks
• Each user is allowed ONE entry per album per week, e.g. 3 reviews per week

WEDNESDAY AM - New albums announced

WEDNESDAY to SUNDAY PM - Entries accepted

MONDAY - Community select "Reviewer of The Week"

TUESDAY - Community select other 2 albums

WEDNESDAY AM - New albums announced

and so on...

So the reviews have to be in by 00:00 on Sunday, and then we have Sunday to choose reviewer of the week, and then the new albums are chosen on Monday, one of them being picked by the reviewer of the week?

Yep, I think the other 2 can also be discussed on that day. Alternatively, make it 5 days per 3 albums, then have one day to decide ROTW and one day to decide on the other 2 albums

Ok, we will start this tomorrow, so you will have until Sunday to get your entries in. Monday will then be assigned to selecting the winner, and Tuesday the new albums. Wednesday morning I will post the next three albums, and that rota will continue

It's probably a good idea that you moderate this too, so if there's no agreement on which albums to review, you can decide

Can't really review an album off one listen though, can you? We're not the NME.

Do you have to review all 3? I'll try to, but if for some reason you only have time to do 1 or 2, will they still count at the end of the week?

Three albums a week will only take up about 2 hours maximum

Of course yeah. I forgot to mention, the "reviewer of the week" will be the person with the best individual review. So say if someone does 3 average reviews and another person does one very good one, the ROTW will be the latter

Ahh sweet, so it's basically "review of the week" rather than "reviewer of the week"? I reckon that works best. I'll do the Editors one pretty soon cause I've listened to that enough already to review it.
