BBQs

Recieved the info email, it advises BBQs in the designated area of the campsite next to the firepoints, has this been the case before and I have just missed it and carried on regardless ?

Must be a health and safety thing, cant imagine how theyre gonna stop or manage all the disposable bbqs being lit on thursday and friday tho, how many people are realistically gonna light a bbq, wait half an hour or so till its lit properly then walk back an forward to their tent with burgers etc ?

Good luck to em getting people to stick to that one !

You can use your stoves outside the tent though, maybe il just fry everything :-) wonder if they will actually come round checking for BBQs ??? And if you do have one lit, what will they do? I won't be able to move it !!!

They probably have to say that to keep the health and safety brigade happy, but hopefully will turn a blind eye to it come the time. Well I'm hoping so anyway. Not that it's gonna stop me lighting one next to the tent.

I hope so, I love the Thursday chill out and BBQ outside ur tent, and I don't mean to sound anti-social about having a communal BBQ area :-) haha

You know yourself, you light the bbq, chill and then its ready to cook on after 45 mins or so. Whos gonna hang around for that long in the communal area waiting before they can even cook on it ?

By the looks of it the weather forecast may solve the issue anyway ! Its hard to bbq in the lashing rain unless your gonna be a double rule breaker and take a gazebo as well ha ha

Yeah true, ah well, see what happens, if the BBQ stoppers come round il deny all knowledge of ever hearing of it ;-) like you said how do they enforce it ? There's going to be loads !!!

I have a little porch on tent, as long as it's not sideways rain we are ok !!! Either that or bar :-)

Ah no, i meant the door of the tent it can come right out with extra poles, providing there is room, so it would just be a shelter from straight rain. :-) the porch might just be as bad as a gazebo to be honest haha

Hi All,

It's my first time at this festival this year and I've got to say having read the pre festival I was gob smacked at this "rule". Been to loads of other festivals and never come across this, no intention of taking any notice of it as walking to and from a "communal area" to have a bbq is just not practical and we are all adults ffs!

So anyway, that aside, what should expect? Previously done V-fest and Leeds/Reading - how does it compare?

Its compact compared to the others youve been to and much easier and quicker to get around. Theres a friendly vibe about it with a good variety of stages and acts. Much more relaxed than what your used to

Cheers, thought as much which is kinda why we chose it - a group of us in our 30's now and fancied something a bit more chilled this year as opposed to scouse kids passing out and setting fire to their tents rather than taking them down!

Looking at the map we're thinking of heading for the green campsite which is near the main entrance and includes the village green. We're up for a site that's a bit lively as like a sing along late on - any recommendations? How far is it to walk in from the main car park?

Depending on where the cars parked youre looking at anything up tp maybes 400mtrs, certainly a lot shorter than youre used to

They had this rule at Beardeed Theory in May. I believe its all down to health and safety due to people dying in BBQ filled tents. At BT it all worked well until people pitched their tents in the BBQ areas becuase all the other space for tents had been filled !
