LOCHLAND5
some of the communal areas are OTTwe managed to get 4 tents into a space on the Friday thinking we'd won a watch only for our neighbours turn up later with a face on and we overheard them moaning to their friends later, couldn't believe they wanted so much communal space!! Dididdlyi
I agree that chilling as a group outside the tent is all part of the festival. We arrived in Emperors on the Thursday teatime and just managed to get a decent space near 1 of our group who had arrived earlier, he hadn't "reserved" our pitches as some people had. We were trying our best to not take up too much space in the middle of our group of tents whilst still including everyone. We discussed if we were being selfish but realised that there were 23 of us and the space we had per person was actually a very efficient use of the space. You are right about the top of the field, we could see when we arrived there was loads of space up there, and it would have been easier for our friend to up sticks and move with us. But they wouldn't let us park up that far and directed us to the car park spot, so we wanted to travel the least distance with our stuff, which I imagine a lot of others did. Great weekend
Jelly Belly
Loved the festival this year but there was one major gripe concerning the Emperors Field which we stayed in for the first time this year. We arrived on the Friday at 3:00ish and were told that the EF was full so we had to use the over-flow field over the road next to the boutique campers, fair enough we thought it wasn't a major concern. What did piss everyone of us and everyone of those around us RIGHT off was that during the evening on the Friday whilst we were all down at the main arena the powers that be in their wisdom decided to erect a long steel fence to try and seperate EF from the Boutique campers and secondly and even more annoyingly they put up a 20 foot flood light with a generator which was as equally noisey as a bloody Sherman Tank. We barely slept for three nights because of it (actually that's a fib, I did get up on the Friday night and jump the fence to find a big red 'off' button which went down very well) we took it up with security on the Sunday night because it was beyond a joke, there were two babies in our group and the 2 1/2 hour drive next day after zero sleep had me worried but the security team (especially the unhelpful w*nkers in Green jackets) didn't give two hoots, they were just barking on about how it was there to prevent robberies, bollocks..how about stepping up security patrols around the sites then rather than sticking a security guard on 'flood light' watch for the entire night freezing his knackers off in the torrential rain serving no purpose what so ever. Apart from that, I'd hope that they would consider that the EF is a bit smaller than they realised so either sell less tickets in there or prepare the over-spill field a lot better in advance so that it had showers, toilets and at least one catering van seeing as that's what we were paying extra for anyway
LOCHLAND5
The problem with emperor is people gazebos , most of the campers in emperor have been before and know the rule ............... It's pretty selfish building a compound with a gazebo in the middle ! I pitched a tent in the overflow at 10am with ramgangnam , for a friend of the wife's , the security looked after and made sure she was safe and allowed me all though supervised to see she was ok in the mornings, I'm not saying any one was rude here , but if you were polite you got the same back . viberunner
Gazebos are only a problem if used to help fence-off vast areas. Used correctly, right next to a tent, they're ideal for scorcher/shower weather.

Pooly JP
4 of us stayed in a bell tent and was surprised how much space we were given around the tent after walking through and seeing how cramped some were in Emperors. Overall i was very impressed with the whole weekend especially how friendly the atmosphere was, other than one dickhead during Basement Jaxx, and it was great for everything to be so close. Found the Woodlands and Tim Peaks to be a great place to spend time and even managed to sit through Indiana Jones On the Friday night. The main stage is well placed to lay about up the bank during the day and was never short of a decent view or overly cramped even during the headline acts. Will be looking to return next year and after seeing how all the kids we bumped into enjoyed themselves will probably take our daughter which we were very apprehensive of before attending this year. duds
We stayed at emperors for the first time, after last year in quiet general (apparently), I cannot say anything bad towards it,absolutely brilliant, lovely people next to us, clean and spacious certainly an eye Opener can't think why we didn't do it before, had a brilliant weekend, I'm very impressed that kc actually listened to us after last year and did a fantastic Job, I have absolutely no doubts about returning next year, just cannot believe I have to wait a year, and to be honest I don't think I will even attempt Glastonbury this year, it was just right, new layout was ace, no separate areas and stuck out the way !!! walkforever
Right time for my rant but first the possitives ! The Arena - great improvements - no faults The Deer Lodge - Shocking - poor organisation, numerous tents that leaked, most of the recpetion services removed. toliets reduced by 60% but numbers of tents up by 3 fold. No showers again in Deer Lodge area despite complaint last year. No food outlets as there was last year. Overall a poor show for those who pay a little more. Needless to say I and alot of other people we spoke to wont be booking this option next year, if in deed we attend the festival. Wickerman looks fav i'm afraid now

viberunner
Agreed. They need to know about the Deer Lodge just as they need to know about the (In)Accessible site. I was waiting for a little while before emailing them, but it's on the to-do list.
LOCHLAND5
Just putting my 2 peneth into the deer lodge debate............. Now it's well known tipis and yurts and bell tents are not the best in extreme weather it's the luck of the draw, and Saturday and Sunday night you were unlucky ! As for the toilet situation in both deer lodge and emperor I agree numbers did seem less than years previous .............but hey you can't grumble you shat in luxury into a wheelie bin
viberunner
Extreme weather? LOL. No. I've a very cheap 1500 strength bell tent (which is very weak). It leaked like a sieve at Eden last year (torrential rain) but it held up this year without issue.
LOCHLAND5
Yeah yeah yeah I hear ya vibebummer but no wonder your tent was dry you had a big F off gazebo over it and were constantly inside cooking up !
viberunner
I have no gazebo. I considered getting one but in the end I spent the money on drugs.
ramragon
You were probably too stoned to feel the rain leaking on you then, by the time you came round itll have dried out !
viberunner
Stoned? Hell no. My psychic powers began to manifest and I forced the rain back into the sky with the power of my third eye and second soul. Must have sweated a hell of a lot, though, as I was soaking wet by the end of it.
