Jacko45
Hi mate, It's my first year too but from what i've been told Yellow is the more lively place to camp followed by Red etc working further away from the arena.. My group sounds similar to yours & so we're planning on camping either in Yellow or not far into Red.. If you look a few pages back on this thread there's a few posts about this sort of thing. Ahhh cheers! Think we are going RED CAMP "D" just on the border of Yellow sounds like it should be fine Like I said we are good people, just don't want to irritate others who may want an earlier evening. i would like you to camp in v festival please, you sound far to raucous for latitude, i expect you will be drinking 'lager' and 'wkds' and making a right old racket, please leave! Ohhh Neil why do you judge me so?! To be honest I'm the most boring 22 year old I know so V Fest would be a nightmare for me haha.
Amy Lawn
Los Campesinos are playing in thatLondon on the Thursday night, why did Melvin not snap them up? I'm sorely tempted to rock up, pitch tent, bimble around site for a bit, drive off to London for the gig, then come back to tent afterwards. tillyandthewall
^^ Maybe call their management to see if they're definitely not playing Latitude first? They'd be a good fit.
Amy Lawn
Contacting management < haranguing Gareth via Facebook If they were booked, they'd be announced, and I did a bit of the old haranguing not long ago, and got the classic response of "if you want us to play a festival, tell the festival", which means they aren't booked, I suppose. They were terrific in 2012, so I imagine Melvin is holding out for them to headline the main stage next year. Yup, that must be it.
adequate8
Glastonbury blues fading now due to excited for Latitude? Never been so really looking forward to it. DJL
Very excited about the atomic bomb announcement... Just a shame they seem to be on at 1pm when i'd probably take them over any of the headliners - sounds like music which would be better later in the day? Weren't grizzly bear the late announcement last year and ended up 2nd to last on? Any chance of a pat mahoney dj set?

Grizzly Bear were originally billed as "special guests" and announced at a later date as a regular 2nd from top act, which I reckon just means they weren't booked at the time the original poster came out. There is a special guest opening the Obelisk on Sunday lunchtime each year, similar to the Glastonbury legends slot. Last year it was that late great Bobby Womack, in years gone by it's been Thom Yorke, Tom Jones, Rufus Wainwright and Joanna Newsom among others. Atomic Bomb are filling this slot, the speculation is now around a mysterious "super secret guest", nobody seems to know very much about it, apart from that there doesn't appear to be enough acts to fill the Obelisk on Friday. Aah thanks... Do we have any other reason to believe there will be a guest beyond one less name? It looks to me like there are 8 on saturday but 7 on both friday and sunday. Seems a long shot? Various comments by Melvin ever since the full poster came out, bolstered by Facebook comments as recent as Wednesday which actually confirm the special guest is a full slot rather than just the possibility of David Byrne appearing with Atomic Bomb. I really am stumped as to who it could be.

Gnomicide
For those that have been before, is it ok/worth it taking a wheelbarrow to get your stuff in? Probably camping somewhere quiet.
Amy Lawn
For those that have been before, is it ok/worth it taking a wheelbarrow to get your stuff in? Probably camping somewhere quiet. Yeah, completely fine. Although I tend to just make multiple trips back to the car and don't bother straining myself. I park up, get out of the car, go in, camp under the first tree I find, only have about 3 tents in the same acre. It's brilliant. I like the walk in the morning, from the tent, down the path, through the woods, past the shops, down towards the gate, into the arena, feels like an event. I love Latitude. Listening to Kelis' new album Food for the first time at the moment, this is great stuff, I can't wait to see her perform these songs. I like a bit of a walk in the morning too so may ,make that 4 tents in the same acre I've found that showing up early is not always the best way to do things, if you aren't heading in for a spot deep in the campsite, 1pm is a good time to turn up. If you're there before or shortly after the gates open then you might have to queue for a bit, if you turn up about an hour after then you basically walk straight through, and still park right next to the gate. May not apply to every year, but it has for the last few.
Amy Lawn
Would like to report a Latitude band discovery that I've come across since the latest announcement. Today I settled down to scroll through a few more artists, and I have come upon The Phantom Band. I really like their sound, this strikes me as the sort of thing that will be brilliant live, I can see myself getting really into this band. Amy Lawn
Cheers. Not in any rush, 5 hour drive for us so won't be getting there early. Does much go on on the Thursday? There's usually a DJ set by a biggish name in the woods (not like an actual DJ, a known person doing a DJ set), usually something in the film tent as well, some stuff in literary and theatre as well. Personally, there's nothing I'd especially love to see, and usually take the opportunity to have a couple of drinks and an early night.
