Tonights earls court gig being broadcast live now on xfm if anyones interested

http://www.xfm.co.uk/london/radio/player/

Word of warning - if you're on the fence about actually watching them at Glastonbury, don't use an xfm broadcast to judge otherwise you'll decide not to bother and will miss out on something amazing. Just had to switch it off - they do not work on the radio at all

And that setlist will have lost the crowd by the 6th or 7th song so they need to mix it up for the festival

Will back up that the radio version isnt doing them justice. The balance seems really off and they're sounding very tinny, when I know they sound much better when youre watching them and get a feel for the atmosphere.

Yes have to agree with this.

Very hard to judge what an act are like live by a radio broadcast

Agree the sound wasnt great, but I didnt really care. Not a bad moment for me, Rococo has grown on me so much. Joan of Arc and We Exist were fine. Only slight negative is that it was the furthers back Ive ever seen them from, I like to be able to see their facial expressions and Will banging things. Anyone here who got within the first few rows, what kind of time did you get there?

Oh, and Owen playing This Is The Dream of Win & Regine is one of my favourite gig moments.

I got to earls court at 5 and managed to get in the first few rows on Richards side :)

Am gunna do one last setlist prediction:

Reflektor

Flashbulb Eyes

Power out

Rebellion

Joan of Arc

The Suburbs

Ready to Start

Tunnels

Laika

No cars go

Haiti

Keep the car running

We exist

Afterlife

It's never over

Sprawl II

Normal person

*cover*

Here comes the night time

Wake up

It's pretty much the same as primavera, except no rococo and a cover which I'm pretty certain we'll get

Brilliant. Surprised to hear they didn’t sound too good on the radio, because I think that was even better than last night, for me. Joan of Arc was brilliant tonight, even as one of my least favourite songs. The ATB bit was wonderful, too.

I don’t think they’ve looked too great on the festival webcasts recently, but they’ve really nailed the whole ‘intimate arena’ thing they’ve been going for. Hope they can still pull it off in a big field, but I can’t see them topping that the past two nights.

Tonight totally rekindled my love for Arcade Fire

Saw them both nights; first I thought was really good but felt as if something was missing, although that was probably more to do with thinking Reflektor was a bit naff and not listening to them for about a year. Tonight I was up in the seats (mate had a free spare) and it was better than Hyde Park, when they were my favourite band bar none

I feel a bit sorry for Kasabian considering who they're competing with

I’ve still never seen a show from up in the seats. Can’t imagine having done that tonight. Dunno if it was just because I had a better spot (central about 5 rows back) tonight, but thought the energy was incredible in the crowd, better than any full Arcade Fire gig I’ve been at.

hope you're right about Laika being in the set. encouraging to see it's being introduced back in more and more lately

I think this thread may have ruined my perception of their setlists, which have been ok but not exactly what i would want. Hoping they noticed how no cars go got the best reaction (bar wake up) on friday and include more neon bible. Got intervention with ATB outro last night which i would have loved. Growing more doubful over keep the car running though which i think would go down a storm on the pyramid.

Imo too many of the slightly plodding without being absolutely beautiful songs - last night we had flash bulb eyes (which still don't like having seen it live twice), we exist followed by suburbs 1 and 2 then later haiti, afterlife and it's never over. I like them all individually but when you're missing the likes of laika and crown of love etc those are moments in the setlist where they could gain more momentum for me.

yeah it's a damn shame that Keep The Car Running is a rarity on this tour. really would've loved to have seen that played on the Pyramid. they're clearly just not that big of fans of Neon Bible (although they seem to enjoy playing snippets from it)

the only song they're playing that i actively hate is Flashbulb Eyes, and it's likely to be the second song and i'll be too pumped to give a shit, so it's all good. Bastille could come on and do a mash up of Pompeii and Flashbulb Eyes and i'd probably still go mental (...maybe)

A part of me hopes that the inclusion of Flashbulb Eyes in virtually every setlist on the tour is because it provides the sound guy an early opportunity to play with the sound levels. We all know, especially in arenas, that it takes the the first couple of numbers before the sound guys get things sounding the way they want because of the varying problematic acoustics these venues have. So my view is that Flashbulb Eyes is the sacrificial lamb that ensures the rest of the gig sounds amazing. I still think it's unnecessary and my fear is that for people watching at home who have never heard of Arcade Fire or haven't really given them their full attention will hear that and be like "Nah, not for me" and switch over. I think Reflektor straight into Power Out/Rebellion would be the perfect opening to a pyramid stage set.

Sorry to derail the excitement about the London shows (the unanimously enthusiastic reports have pushed up my Glastonbury excitement to massive levels), but I just wanted to post that Jarvis Cocker was spotted at the Paris show. I can only conclude that it's 100% certain we'll see a Common People cover at G.

Bloody hell, that would fucking rule. He's there isn't he, Jarvis?

DJ set with Steve Mackey somewhere, and he think he shows up every year anyway. He was spotted wandering around the Park last year even though I don't think he was performing (unless he did a special Glastonbury Sunday Service?).
