Yeah Supersymmetry is one of the best songs on the album. I completely agree about its use in the Her trailer, that was stunning.

The thing with Reflektor is it demonstrates a total lack of quality control. There are some blinders on there, but also some forgettable filler and some downright dross. I also think the 2nd side is a lot more interesting than the first.

With a bit of editing you could get it down to one pretty solid single album.

hey now, Supersymmetry is a brilliant song. i initially thought it was pretty throwaway but realised it's majesty after hearing it on the Her trailer. one of the better songs on the album imo

It's used brilliantly in the actual film too. I didn't recognise it at first, thought it was Jon Hopkins or some other electronica act.

Happy birthday Regine! :)

I think they played Supersymmetry at my Roundhouse gig? On my phone so can't be arsed to check but pretty sure that's what sold me on it. Gorgeous song.

Now the dust has settled on the gigs and album, I'd totally agree that Reflektor could do with a good edit but it has some songs on there I like more than songs on The Suburbs so there are moments of brilliance. They're a band I've got a lot of love for so I think I might be a bit more forgiving of their less brilliant moments. Flashbulb Eyes doesn't annoy me the way it seems to a lot of posters here, but then again I realise that's because it gets played in lieu of superior works.

Flashbulb Eyes is the only song on the album that I don't like (not counting HCTNT II cus that's more dickery than an actual song, like). I don't want to be "that guy", but they're releasing the wrong songs as singles, the Orpheus/Euridice duo is absolute magic, same for Joan Of Arc and Afterlife. I'm not arguing with Reflektor and Here Comes The Night Time, though, both great lads.

Oh come on, Joan of Arc is a turgid dirge.

I thought they did release Afterlife? Shows what I know! They should have anyway.

they did. it was the second single after Reflektor and before We Exist

to be honest, although they made quite poor decisions with We Exist and You Already Know, there aren't really any proper singles on the album (not in the way Power Out / Keep The Car Running / Ready To Start etc immediately jumped out). could've chosen almost anything and it would've been questioned by a lot of people

a real shame that the tour's almost over and they only played Awful Sound once (and not in it's full glory - acoustically)

Huh, I thought it went Reflektor, Here Comes The Night Time, Normal Person, We Exist. I just work under the assumption that if I see something on the telly then it's a single. Can't believe they didn't release HCTNT, fools.

There are a couple of tracks I’m not so fond of, but I don’t agree that it needs a quality control edit or something like that. I’m happy to have as many songs as possible, and everyone disagrees about which tracks should be cut anyway. For me it’s changed regularly; Awful Sound used to be my least favourite track on my album, and I hated Joan of Arc for a while, but I really like both of them now. I dunno, I think it’s got a great flow as an album, and it’s pretty easy to just do your own edit if you don’t like something.

I’ve been listening to them more than ever recently and I think I love all the albums pretty much equally.
