listened to Reflektor today for the first time in ages and that second disk really is one of the best things they've done isn't it? Here Comes the Night Time II removed (pretty much just an intro anyway) it's all fantastic. shame the first disk had to have some of their shittiest songs on it and bring the whole thing down

I don't think any of the tracks you usually skip on the first disc are really bad at all, they would get a pass on a shorter album, it's more that they stick out because of how long the album is. And they're against a much more cohesive second half as well, disc 1 doesn't gel together anything like as well as 2 does.

Certainly. I was a bit gutted at first glance but remembered that there isn't really any easily accessible other UK festival for 'em to do nowadays so it doesn't matter.

Agree it's a good booking. Restores a bit of indie cred.

well if we're to believe The Stone Roses gossip about them bailing on Glastonbury for IOW's big money (although kind of makes less sense now that we know Foos are the Sunday headliner) then i guess they could end up being the 'big' headliner they have planned, and then some ridiculous co-headliner

Just been on IOW facebook and most comments are 'who are they? Never heard of them' not really IOW target audience usual fare.

oh and £195 for a camper an ticket is just daylight robbery

The 'UK festival exclusive' screams of a tour too. I find it hard to judge how big they are now though, half a dozen arenas across the UK?

£80 for a day ticket at IOW. Previous lineups suggest there won't be much else of interest to me other than Arcade Fire but I'm going to keep my eye on this. Or i'll try and catch them at a Euro fest.

Yeah - definitely worth remembering that IOW only has a couple of other stages and the bills are usually very top heavy.  You're unlikely to get a great supporting line up.
