Just now on 6music, Mark Radcliffe has also just said he'd heard about Arcade Fire to headline Glastonbury from insiders.

Please let all of this be true!

I think anything regarding Arcade Fire to headline that appears over the coming days/weeks will have almost everything to do with last nights interview with Jo, rather than anything else. People are assuming they were talking about Glastonbury (especially me) so everyone who knows about that interview including 'insiders' are now going to lump their money on them headlining

Would definitely be a good booking. They're probably the must have headline band this summer. Glasto have done well on timing actually, with Reading already having had them recently there probably wasn't much competition for their signature... although, having finally got round to getting Reflektor and having given it a good few listens, it does nothing for me. In fact that nauseating hook from Here Comes the Night Time gave me insomnia last night. Lying in bed with that fucking thing going over and over was sending me crazy. Currently, I'd put it as the weakest of their 4 albums.

Haven't heard it but the last one was out and out shit. And the one before that was average. Funeral has a few great tracks on it but isn't a classic despite how highly its regarded. And their first EP was average.

The more I think about the more I think these guys are a hype machine. They haven't released anything good in nearly 10 years.

Live though. I saw them at the Electric Picnic in 2005 in a tent at about 5pm and it was one of the best gigs I've seen. Festival gigs anyway. They fucking nailed it. The band still talk about that gig.

I prefer their earlier stuff basically.

I havent listened to the latest album but I do think each album has got steadily worse.

Out of the first 3 albums you can put together one cracking album I reckon. But there is a lot of filler (especially on the suburbs).

The length of some of the songs on the latest one is what scares me most

I also think they are to blame for mumford and sons existence

It was cool not to like them when Intervention was released. I was beside all the BBC radio lot at the other stage in 07. Zoe Ball and the likes. Always cool not to like them when the hip kids are at the gigs!

But in fairness theres more than a whiff of bullshit from their latest tour. VIP packages with made up VIP laminates, pre show canapes and "crowd free" merchandise shopping - so you don't have to interact with the rest of the vermin while you buy their merch.

that definitely seems to be becoming a trend. all the people who were all over them three years ago when The Suburbs came out are slowly turning their backs on them now

i love them but Funeral is unarguably head and shoulders above the rest of their albums. i remember when i first listened to Funeral and i thought 'wow this bands sound is amazing', and then i listened to Neon Bible and my heart dropped a little as their sound had completely changed, and they've kind of stuck with that 'sound' for the rest of the albums
