GlastoSimon
Yes, it`s on. I have stumbled across the secret formula for establishing the headliners even this far in advance. Last night Arcade Fire on BBC R1 Last night Arcade Fire on BBC R2 Nov 29th Arcade Fire on Graham Norton BBC1 If further proof be needed, guess who screened Crossfire Hurricane last year and followed it up with The Stones in Hyde Park. The BBC know and will drip feed the masses until June. Should have sussed this earlier Not to mention when the BBC showed live sets of the Radiohead set from 1997 and Pulp set from 1995, just weeks before their secret sets in 2011 I think someone said earlier they're in Scandinavia that weekend. They're playing North Side festival in Denmark, and somebody on here said that makes them likely for Hultsfred as well in Sweden (same promoter or something?) - both are same weekend as IOW. Osama Jim Laden
Saw AF around 2007ish, they were excellent.. Agree that suburbs is somewhat lacking but funeral & neon bible are great albums.. Not listened to reflektor at all yet so comment there.. They'd be a top Friday headliner if the rumours are true, definitely not the best touring band at the mo', that's the bad seeds title but they ain't coming back this year. After listening to wollheads asking for foos, maiden, Williams (surely a joke but some actually said they'd like it) arcade fire would be a tremendous call
rachbon
Funeral seems to be everyone's favourite because it's so unique, when it was released I instantly loved it and couldn't believe how different it was to anything I'd ever heard before. I think they've gotten a bit more radio friendly with each album but I don't see this as a bad thing because they are still a million miles away from being middle of the road pish and still make better music than any other band. Although I think their performance loses a bit of emotion on a big stage, they just HAVE to headline the pyramid stage. Aye, I don't think it's a bad album, prefer the first two is all.. Actually think I'd probably miss them I they were on the pyramid, don't really like the energy around that stage.. I do think they deserve it though

I do think they deserve it though I think they'd still crack out a stunning performance but yeah, in my first year at Glasto I definitely found out I'm not a fan of the Pyramid Stage. Only for the must sees really - of which Arcade Fire would be. Would be nice if they had something to coax people to the Other Stage like The Prodigy or similar. Superscally
For anyone in Australia, they've just announced Big Day Out sideshows. Tickets on sale tomorrow 9am Ta man, though I reckon it might be a bit of overload for me with the Glasto likelihood as I'm going to see em at Big Day Out in Melbs... AF, Blur, Pearl Jam, Snoop, all guaranteed not to clash in one day!! Plus...Tame Impala, CSS and the 1975. Not bad! 1
Superscally
P.S Regine songs grate on me. I prefer it when she sticks to backing vocals. I'm not giving out on her vocals - I like them, just the songs seem weedy, as if they've gone: "Oh here's a girl song, sing that".

I wouldnt consider Sprawl II a girly song, def not weedy as you put it. TBH its my favourite AF song along with Ready to Start, cant wait to hear them two played on the pyramid. Yeah it's a great line up, wasn't tempted to go these last couple of years cos the line ups weren't great but very good line up this year. Even PJ who I'm not really a fan of I'm looking forward to see why they have such a big live reputation. It's going to be on Australia Day here in Sydney though so probably a few too many sunburnt bogans!

I agree, in the backseat is a poo on an otherwise perfect album for me, but sprawl II is a fucking huge tune. It's the type of song that should be so popular it gets used in football chants hahaha

benc
I don't suppose anyone has a spare presale code? ... worth trying Everything is crossed that the Glastonbury rumours are true and earls court would be the icing
DJL
The press articles for earls court seem to refer to at as a 'huge' gig (which i'm guessing refers to size rather than/as well as importance). How 'huge' does earls court get? I'm not sure i can remember ever going to a gig there...

How 'huge' does earls court get? I'm not sure i can remember ever going to a gig there... It's the same size as the o2 in london, which they've also played (I think?). I'd say their headline gig at Hyde Park is the most "huge" gig they've done in the UK (even though most of the crowd were there for mumford and sons )

It was given the green light in the Summer but no confimrmed time to start demolition. Obviously after June 6th next year.
