It's a grower. There's a lot of people on this thread that started off whinging about it, then saying 'oh I like this track a bit more now' etc. until it turns out they love the album anyway!

They were on this doing Little Drummer Boy the other day - Regine sounded particularly great. Skip to 3:20 or so if you don't like comedy.

Yeah they have been my second favourite band for several years now and I wasn't keen on Reflektor on first listen, but by the fourth I was only less enamoured with Flashbulb Eyes and You Already Know, which remains the case.

The second half/disc is sublime and on par with that midsection of The Suburbs (from Half Light II to Wasted Hours).

Totally agree on those two being the weakest. The rest of the album is fantastic after a couple of listens

We Exist, Flashbulb Eyes, You Already Know and Here Comes The Night Time II are all songs that i could take or leave (especially Flashbulb Eyes, which i think is their worst song)

second disc far surpasses the first. apart from Here Comes The Night Time II (which is short and just an intro so doesn't really bother me) the second disc is all gold. even Porno, which i initially hated, has really grown on me. really hoping Awful Sound gets introduced into their sets in time for Glastonbury!

We Exist is one of the best from Reflektor! It's really dancey and passionate at the same time! Appeals to me greatly! The ending is just fantastic!

I am also quite a fan of Flashbulb eyes, I think I get up in the meaning of that one though. I'd say I am a Disc1 person though apart from Here Comes The Night Time Part II/Afterlife.

I'm still so excited! Been listening to nothing but them over the weekend, watched their Reading set again yesterday and I'm wearing my 'who the fuck is arcade fire' tshirt today. I might burn myself out before June! If they play My Body Is A Cage I might legitimately cry. Not seen that live in a good while.

Keep The Car Running, Intervention and No Cars Go from Neon Bible

The Suburbs, Ready To Start, Month Of May, We Used To Wait and Sprawl II from The Suburbs

(not necessarily the best songs from those albums but the ones that will more than likely be played live on their upcoming tour / Glastonbury set)

No cars go in particular

but yeah, start with this

and i wouldn't say Reflektor is more 'professional' (weird way to put it), just more cleanly produced, whereas Funeral seemed to have a bit of an 'edge' to it, with a lot more clattering instruments etc (which i much, much preferred, and was devastated when i first heard Neon Bible and realised how streamlined the sound was on it)
