Arcade Fire

Bands playing albums in full are usually those who are either past their best, or who have played festivals so many times they have to justify their appearance by doing something different (see Muse, Metallica, Linkin Park, Green Day as prime examples in the past few years).

Arcade Fire are arguably on top of their game right now, so shouldn't have to resort to cheap gimmicks like that

This is a really good point. Now Manic Street Preachers on the other hand...

As far as underrated songs go - I feel a need to mention Empty Room. One of the standouts on The Suburbs for me, but rarely talked about

Empty Room is a fantastic song. doubt it's gonna get played live again (any time soon, anyway) but was one of my favourites at Leeds '10 (don't think they played it at Reading?). definitely one of the best from The Suburbs

Great shout. Would love to see this back, brilliant song. Like most Regine led ones

see that's one of the songs from The Suburbs that i'm not much of a fan of and would probably never put on voluntarily other than if i was

listening to the album in full. not bad but just does nothing for me

Each to their own, would much rather them bring back in the back seat or Une Annee any day!

Yeah it was in heavy rotation even on The Suburbs tour so doubt they'll play it again. Think at Reading they played Modern Man instead? Fortunately managed to catch it at 2/3 gigs I've been to.

This thread, and comments from those who have seen them multiple times is making me very confident that we will both get crowd pleasers and an unpredictable mix. Exactly what I'd hope for from the gig.

i personally think we'll get a pretty predictable setlist - they've got to that stage in their career where they've got so many 'hits / must plays' that, especially at a festival show, they'll probably have to play it safe and play most of them bar maybe one or two from each album:

Tunnels, Laika, Power Out, Wake Up, Haiti and Rebellion from Funeral

Keep The Car Running, Intervention and No Cars Go from Neon Bible

The Suburbs, Ready To Start, Month Of May, We Used To Wait and Sprawl II from The Suburbs

Reflektor, We Exist, Here Comes The Night Time, Normal Person, You Already Know, Joan Of Arc, It's Never Over and Afterlife from Reflektor

maybe they'll switch it up a little bit and add in some lesser played songs, but i reckon that's pretty much what their setlist will look like

Big Day Out 17th January so will give us an idea of what they'll play

Had Joan of Arc stuck in my head for an entire shift last night, surprised to hear not everyone digs it as much as me.

Your not alone, it gets much love from me to :D

Glastonbury setlist will look like their Coachella one , with 4/5 songs swapped with Reflektor songs I'd imagine, which is no bad thing :D. (Maybe one or two others that fit better, as they seem to care about that)

Coachella 2011

  1. Crown of Love Normal Person
  2. Rococo Here comes the Nightime
  3. Encore:
Obviously will be rearranged to fit the songs in a better order instead of replacing them like that :P But the replacements are their top 5 most played Reflektor songs from setlist.fm

They need longer even just for more Reflektor tracks :(

First time i have logged on here for a while.

I am so excited for this headline show, love Arcade Fire's music and I honestly think they will put on a great show.

They are "Big enough" to headline Glasto, of course they are! In fact there aren't too many bands around currently that are at the same point in their career as Arcade Fire.

Now i have to endure my mates telling me that 'Arcade Fire are crap' all year but I don't care, i'll be having fun in June, a huge grin across my face as I hear this band perform live.

It may be a bit self indulgent, but I would love it if they threw Headlights look like diamonds in there, pretty sure they did it one of the Reflektor gigs

why self indulgent to play one of their own songs live?

and i think they did it at the Reflektor gigs because those shows were a chance for them to spread their wings a bit - play songs they wouldn't usually at full shows (i know they did a cover most nights as well). i doubt it'll get played in the upcoming tour, but you never know

Was from my own perspective rather than the bands :P

Probably one of the first songs that got me into them, could have been a staple like No Cars Go had done if they placed it on a latter album
