here comes the night time worse than HCTNT II?

I'd say yes- my take on new album

Worst to best

Here comes the night time

Flashbulb eyes

Here comes the night time II

Porno

Joan of arc

Reflektor

Supersymmetry

Normal person

You already know

Afterlife (bizarre love triangle anyone?)

We exist

Awful sound

It's never over

IMO we exist ranked much lower when I'd first got the album, but hearing it at Blackpool absolutely blew me away.

Best song of the night, and that was saying something considering sprawl 2 almost had me in tears

I'll have a pop:

1. uptempo banger that says "hello lads we're onstage now let's have a nice time"

2. one off the not very good new album

3. another one off the not very good new album

4. token deep cut from the album previous to the new not very good album

5. another one off the not very good new one (they really like it)

6. banger from the first album to stop casual fans from leaving

7. another banger to keep said fans in place

8. back to the not very good new songs

9. another new song

10. song from the second album that was nearly a hit but not quite

11. obscure EP track that will allow approximately 3% of the crowd to feel a bit smug for three and a half minutes

12. second album leading single

13. the one off that advert

14. rousing banger from the second album that's not quite as good as the one they're about to play after the encore

---------

15. uplifting closer that's also the only song 70% of the crowd know

Jesus if they did that progression of the neighborhoods I don't think I'd be standing for the rest of the set

It's almost as if bands sequence setlists for maximum impact. Fickle bastards.

How're the legs on that looking?

Is anyone still listening to it or are copies already gathering dust?

I`m still playing it and enjoying it more and more. Was at The Barra`s on the Saturday and thought they were quality. Until that night I would never have seen Normal Person as an opener but it worked live for me. Same with Here comes the night time and of course Reflektor. Would think these 3 plus 3 more from reflektor will make it to Glastonbury and will compliment the earlier, maybe better, stuff.

I`m ticketless ( at the moment ) but would 100% see them on the Friday if that changes. Got Dublin tickets for the Sunday night as backup plan.

Are you undecided about going to see them ?

You may have just deconstructed live pop music as we know it, I'll probably remember this whenever I indulge in my dear pastime of obsessively pouring over setlist.fm from now on, it just wont be the same.

any more.

Even if the album doesn't have the legs it had before, it's still the album they'll be touring, and thus they'll likely be leaning more on that than any other album.

Hmm, I'm not convinced.

At their own shows yes, it'll be Reflektor heavy. I think they're smart enough to know that a few songs on that album just won't work at Glastonbury. I posted a list above of which songs I think they'd get away with, anything more and I reckon the set could be in danger of being a failure.

Maybe unrelated, but if you look at their live dates, the 'Reflektor Tour' shows are separate from the festivals. I'm pretty sure they'll get the balance right.
