Gucci Piggy
Out of the 11 times I've seen them, that was the worst but I think that was because the crowd weren't that great - all everyone seemed to want to do around me was mosh to the extreme. Well they were rubbish at Leeds because they played badly. They were good at Glastonbury though, as dental said, so hopefully R&L was just a one off. TheSilence
Why? They're constantly touring That's why! They need a proper break soon. I've seen a lot of talk on the Glasto threads about Flo. She could be worth a shout.
Andre91
I can't think of a less boring, uninspiring but safe booking than Kings Of Leon. Edited July 20, 2014 by Andre91

dentalplan
KOL being booked next year would probably be the worst headliner booking in the festival's history.
Babyquack
So it's still a step down then. Plus, the NME stage for neither site is in London. I think they could've gotten away with headlining NME last year if the bookers anticipated more from Big TV but not now. I wouldn't count that as a step down tbh. And I was only using London as an example of the kind of venues they played on each tour I still stand by my feeling that they'll headline the NME next time around though

And I was only using London as an example of the kind of venues they played on each tour I still stand by my feeling that they'll headline the NME next time around though Playing two nights at the Roundhouse after two nights at Brixton (!) on the first album tour and Wembley Arena on the second one isn't a step down? Even then I don't imagine anyone including the Roundhouse on their proper tour is in danger of headlining NME. Have you forgotten about Blink 182? It'd be worse than that. They were just so good last night! It truly was a headline performance in all aspects!
justanothername
Don't see White Lies headlining the NME next year and KOL would be a boring booking but I could see them doing it

justanothername
Never said it'd be next year but whenever their next album comes out The fact that you posted it in the 2015 thread suggested overwise to me Still don't think they'll headline the NME though regardless when the new album comes out
the wonderwhy
It'd be worse than that. They're bigger, have new material and didn't headline four years ago. Plus they're not shite. Babyquack
The fact that you posted it in the 2015 thread suggested overwise to me Where else would you like me to have put it? Made an unnecessary White Lies thread? In the 2014 lineup thread when they're not playing this year?
Gucci Piggy
I always thought White Lies were gonna become a major festival headliner, until Big TV came out. Now it just isn't gonna happen unless they have a radical change.
rawaudioinput
The fact that White Lies headlined Truck is enough to show that they won't be getting big slots from R&L any time soon. Truck is definitely one of those festivals that you only play on your way up and then on your way down; the acts on the upper echelons of main stage are only there because they can't get bookings elsewhere

kaosmark2
It'd be worse than that. The only worse booking that could possibly be made than Blink 182 this year would be Blink 182 next year.
Gucci Piggy
Thing is, I find the Big TV songs come across much better live than the ones they're playing from Ritual now. Yeah I wasn't meaning the album itself (the songs do come across well); I just meant it didn't seem to garner much excitement.
dentalplan
They're bigger, have new material and didn't headline four years ago. Plus they're not shite. They're most definitely shite. They headlined five years ago (and were worse than Blink was purported to be) and being big doesn't make them any good a booking. No doubt Blink are a shite booking and a worse band but at least they haven't played a festival since or even a show in UK for two years - two years where KOL have done two festivals and endless arena tours and outdoor shows. Also I would've thought Blink had more material, although that point wasn't relevant in the first place. Gucci Piggy
The only worse booking that could possibly be made than Blink 182 this year would be Blink 182 next year. They will have an album between this year's festival and next year's. Not saying it's gonna happen, so don't shout at me, but I think we may be looking at a Blink/Black Keys co-headline :')))

Gucci Piggy
They're hardly on the rise any more are they? Exactly, so they're not on the rise or fall, and they're playing.
