Lineup 2015

If I remember correctly Florence was leaked quite a while before she was announced. But at the time it was "nailed on" that she'd be subbing the cure. But it turned out she was actually subbing kasabian and no one predicted paramore

EDIT: actually I remember

The cure

Florence

Kasabian

Kaiser chiefs

Foo fighters

The black keys

Was "leaked" a week before the announcement if I remember. Everyone believed it as well.

Yeah I'm saying what I expected/didn't expect when we started predicting, i.e. straight after the previous year's festival.

And as tourette says, that didn't happen. I definitely never believed anything like that was happening.

Strictly at one point said it was Foos, Green Day and Kasabian, with The Killers subbing Kasabian and The Cure headlining NME lol. That's the only "leak" I remember.

For it to be a leak it has be genuine infomation from a reputable source, so nothing published on strictly is a leak. Bullshit speculation is just bullshit speculation, not leaked information.

EDIT: I see yellow got there before me.

What I meant was that I thought it was claimed to be a leak.

May be wrong though

I'm pretty sure The Cure were only TBC on here about 2-3 days before the announcement. Neil seemed to be convinced they were headlining Latitude due to the swirly map which the band produced.

The map showed them playing Leeds but the photoshopped image with the swirl made it look like elsewhere.

Nope, it was 12 days before. And Neil was never convinced about Latitude, he was weighing up between R&L and Latitude and leaning towards the latter as they seemed such an unlikely headliner for R&L.

If I remember correctly, Neil said he was 95% sure they wouldn't play Reading despite many others stating otherwise. That seemed pretty convinced to me.

The point always was that Latitude seemed like an even more unlikely option as it was A) Smaller than Bestival that they had just played succesfully the year before B) far smaller than the other festivals they were playing in Europe at the time. C) Latitude never fitted around their touring schedule anyway.

I probably am wrong about when they were nailed on here but it took a long time. Neil even had them down as a SR for Latitude in mid-February.

I guess it depends on your take on the word convinced :P

I always assume that if he was convinced they were playing Latitude he would have put them as TBC for Latitude, anything less (no matter what percentage he puts on it) is liable to change, and that goes for anyhting on this site. From what I recall his stance was changing day by day, so although he may have appeared confident one day it wasn't a final prediction. I remember the 95% comment and I don't think it was long (maybe a day or two) before he started to change that belief due to receiving new info. It was flip-flopping for a while.

True. All the problem of festival predicting I guess. However, I think this was one of the few occasions when Neil's info seemed to be unreliable. To state that he was 95% sure they weren't going to play in possibly January is a fairly big statement to make.

As unlikely as The Cure seemed as headliners for Reading most of info in the public domain in January/February showed Reading as more likely than Latitude.

Possibly true, I wouldn't really know what was in the public domain (other than idiot sites having them down for headlining the NME tent). I do recall him saying that a lot of info (including that damn map) pointed to R&L but that he questioned it more than usual because it seemed such an odd booking.

Anyway, they published the article 12 days before and experience should tell us all that until a name goes on the line-up page not to assume anything.

Neil found out The Cure were playing much earlier than that published article, but wasn't allowed to say anything by his source. I think it was before the 95% thing that he found out (wasn't it 100% not Bloc Party, 95% not Green Day and 94% not The Cure?), but he had to maintain his stance that he was confident they wouldn't play, again due to his source.

I definitely remember this because Gazza kept shouting at Neil afterwards saying he had no idea, and Gazza couldn't get his head round the fact Neil wasn't allowed to make it look like he'd had any info to change his mind.

You seem to have pretty good memory of the lead up to 2012. Do you remember who else was considered to be headlining before the Cure were announced? Because I remember there was another band touted but I can't remember who.
