I think it was Blur and also Green Day because of Rock en Seine. People toyed with the idea of Florence because it was pointed out how she sells pretty well and stuff but it was only really a pessimistic shout. Black Sabbath were in talks with Live Nation (who promoted their arena tour) but not necessarily ever with R+L.

Also how did I get a downvote for saying my iTunes library was mostly white males?

I know mentioning downvotes or upvotes is an invitation to downvotes (and rightly so) but not being allowed to say that is POLITICAL CORRECTNESS GONE MAD.

I got a downvote in the Glastonbury section like last week for saying how I enjoyed The Cure playing Wrong Number at Leeds. People are fucking weird.

You seem to have pretty good memory of the lead up to 2012. Do you remember who else was considered to be headlining before the Cure were announced? Because I remember there was another band touted but I can't remember who.

Dentalplan pretty much has it nailed on, those were the names being thrown around.

Blur didn't do ReS in 2012 though?

I guess they were just getting thrown around because they do every year anyway :P

I think the ReS reference was for Green Day. Blur were being mentioned as that's the year they made their big comeback.

Really? Fuck.

Yup, these were the dates. I was going to go but I really loved Layne's voice and as good as the other guy they have is he just doesn't do it for me. Seems a bit too overproduced and not as raw.

Have to agree with Layne being one of the best ever vocalists. Seen AiC twice now though with William and they're still great, as good as it would have been to see Layne with them I still definitely recommend going to see them. Jerry Cantrell also has a great voice in his own way, really compliments Will and Layne's as well as also being an incredible guitar player :)

I think Jerry Cantrell's vocals and guitar were always under-appreciated and were just as important to their sound as Lane's vocals. Will Duvall does a good job of replicating Lane's vocals, I doubt they'd have been able to adequately replace Jerry.
