I really hope that we get surprised like with the Metallica announcement (not that Metallica's booking was that much of a surprise but it seemed a dead cert on this thread that it'd be Linkin Park.) Libs are looking pretty nailed on at this point, but would love to see RHCP play: Libs / Metallica / RHCP IMO would be a thousand times better than Linkin Park / Metallica / Mumford.

Right so the prediction game is up, however having trouble with the fact that there was a co-headliner last year, what if this happens again? But at the same time I don't want to let everyone use it as a chance to guess twice.

So Im sticking with one headline guess at the moment however if people do want to guess a co-headliner I am tempted to introduce a rule where they need to get both to get the points or something like that... hopefully it wont come to that though.

If they have Knife Party playing a closing/headlining set in NME, I wouldn't be surprised if they pitch Royal Blood up to 2/3 top in the tent, against something on the main stage

I would. They packed out the NME tent and will probably be moving to open air stages at most of their European festivals.

Is there a good chance of Billy Talent or Rise against?

Rise Against are unlikely as they're doing a decent slot at Download. Maybe Billy Talent but they've been around Europe at the same time as R+L for the past couple of years and not shown up so I dunno.

You could say The 1975 last year, Jake Bugg the year befor should/could both have been playing outdoors

Just going on that thinking they've put a couple of acts that have had a massive rise in popularity right up the top of the nme line up the past couple of years, probably wishful thinking

The 1975 and Jake Bugg hadn't played the NME before that. Royal Blood did and overfilled the tent. They'd have to be banking on them to get a smaller crowd to even carry it off.

I think the new band subbing the NME stage role that FTP/Bugg/1975 have had in the past few year will go to Catfish & The Bottlemen this year. Given their 'heavier' sound I think it is more likley Royal Blood will play 3rd (Or maybe even subbing) the main stage.

Personally I think people are over exaggerating the size of Catfish especially compared to The 1975 this time last year. Anyway Royal Blood subbing the main would be pretty weak and they could maybe pull off 3rd but I'd still say they're a NME sub

Royal Blood haven't got enough material to headline NME surely?

They have less than 35 minutes of released material. But Alt-J did play with one album (which is around 15 minuets longer too) but even then they had to played two songs from earlier EPs and a cover. Considering the most sets on the NME headline are an hour it would be difficult. Heck even 3rd maybe a problem as the shortest last year was Shikari with 45. It could be a problem but I'm sure they could overcome though

They've got their album plus a few b sides which would total ABOUT 50 mins to an hour so I think they could pull off NME headline or main stage sub if they drag out the set a bit. How long did Jake Bugg get last year? About an hour and fifteen?

The album is around 30 mins and Hole is 3 and there is a cover of Happy. Don't know where is extra 15-25 came from.

Edit: I've seen they've been playing a song called You Want Me and another called Love it & Leave it Alone but I doubt it is going to fill that time. Didn't know they even existed

They have Hole, You Want Me and the B-side to Ten Tonne Skeleton so there's ten minutes at least plus they could throw a cover in or something... I don't know, I'm just trying to make an argument for them haha

Yeah I was slowly realising but where they even released in the UK? The only way to get the B Side to Ten Tonne Skeleton is via the 7" single (which as another song). They won't be well know making it a weak set but then again a lot of their sets had material that wasn't well known at the time and people still really enjoyed them. Still think they'll sub the NME though
