Bullet For My Valentine have announced that their new album is out this year and they'll be touring the UK and worldwide this year... Potential Metallica sub? This will be their fifth album so far and radio 1 seem to always hype them up when they release something new. Plus if FOB don't sub, I couldn't really see a problem with them subbing

their stock has fallen significantly over the last years so they definitely wouldn't get such a high slot if they were booked

Not big enough to sub (Their profile hasn't increased enough since they last played), can't see them playing this year but if they do I think they'll keep the slot they had back in 2012.

Libertines subbed by Kendrick Lamar

Metallica subbed by Frank Turner

Mumford subbed by Alt-J

is what I'll go for

Agree on the headliners, personally don't think Alt-J will do R&L this year. I think Kendrick and Frank will both play but can't see either subbing just yet though. 3rd below Metallica is my guess for Frank and 4th for Kendrick.

Also, how does the possibility of Drenge headlining one night this years rock stage/lock up (Or whatever it's going to be called) sound? Possibly as that stages alternative to Metallica

I'm not sure Kendrick is big enough to sub. He's absolutely brilliant and SHOULD be bigger, but he really hasn't broken the mainstream over here yet. If this was a festival in the US I could see it, but he's nowhere near the size Macklemore was last year yet. 4th down at most, the way I see it.

Could have been about Fall Out Boy? I'm convinced that they're subbing and they didn't really have any big mainstream hits until My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark. I know Sugar, We're Going Down and Thnks Fr Th Mmrs got played a lot, but not in the way that their comeback song did. Meh, just a hunch.

Surely there is no way Frank Turner is big enough to sub, I'm sure there's was a convo in this thread a few pages back about his decline in popularity

I could imagine The Libertines/The Vaccines being pretty nailed on

Frank Turner hasn't declined in popularity, he even played a few arenas last year and by time him and Kendrick Lamar bring new albums out they could both sub the festival

I want Kendrick to play just to watch about 20,000 people drinking during Swimming Pools in unison.

Bullet played arena shows on the last tour, people on here say they have significantly declined in popularity.

Yeah but weren't Bullet already playing arenas before that, to bigger crowds (genuine question; I don't know)?

Not saying Frank Turner's bigger, but on his arena tour he definitively sold more tickets than he previously had.

Frank Turner, for some reason, seems to have a bunch of hardcore fans who absolutely adore him and see him half a dozen times on each tour. The degree to which most music fans seem to care about him appears to have declined though. Arena tour or no arena tour, he's not a sub.

I think Imagine Dragons are a sub this time out, due to Billy Corgan moaning about behind a band with one big song.

They'd have probably been on the Metallica day and Kendrick Lamar probably only has one song in Billy Corgan's eyes :P

Could be anyone, though. He may only know one song by The Vaccines/Alt-J/TDCC. And also the fact he was probably exaggerating.

Yeah they had already played a few arenas before and my friend went to see them in 2013 they had barely sold any seating and you could still get tickets for standing close to the date and it even had some strong supports.

So all the Frank Turner fans will buy day tickets for both sites then ;)

It is funny with Frank Turner, I think he could sub but then again he could play 3rd easily as it all depends as the new album that is coming out. All I know is that he'll play :P
