Matt42
Bestival is a bit different in the sense to R&L, T in The Park, V etc in the fact that they pick headliners that for their sole purpose is to shift a massive amount of tickets. imo, as big as Gorillaz are I can't see a mainstream festival picking them unless they really get back into the mainstream. justanothername
In all honesty I think Gorillaz would big go down well at R&L (well the announcement would) and it would be a popular headliner but then again I don't think they're booked. I'd prefer them to Mumford anyway Edited February 1, 2015 by justanothername
dentalplan
Are Bestival announcing next week? My bad. Theme this week. First acts the week after according to RDB twitters.

DGrant261
Gorillaz would be a perfect fit for Bestival. Only festival I can see them doing anytime soon.

willutalk
Just wondering: How many bands will be announced? Which slots?
Gucci Piggy
Just wondering: How many bands will be announced? Which slots? No one knows, really. 2013 there were like 7 acts in this announcement; last year I think around 10. Probably around 10 this time.
rivalschools.price
Fair play to these festival organisers, they re doing a good job of keeping the line ups quiet these days. Announcement tomorrow and we still don't know who is headlining(other than educated guesses) Metallica was a surprise when it was announced and we still haven't got a clue about other festivals like Glastonbury. In the old days we would have had a few 'TBC' on the rumours page by now.

The other headliner we'll just have to wait and see. Edited February 1, 2015 by dentalplan
justanothername
Just wondering: How many bands will be announced? Which slots? Not sure, in 2013 there were 7 acts announced and most of them were quite big names (the smallest were BMTH who played 5th on main and Jake Bugg who subbed the NME and was the only act announced that weren't play main) but last year there was 14 acts announced but they were spread out over the different stages and were in smaller slots in comparison. I reckon it will be like how it was down last year
SOAD
Wouldn't Gorillaz cost too much for the medium sized festivals like Bestival and Latitude? Considering the sort of show they put on I figure it must cost alot... wasn't that the excuse for their very high ticket prices on their last tour. Although I guess Bestival did have Elton John Edited February 1, 2015 by SOAD
dentalplan
No idea really without knowing how much Gorillaz are paid or Bestival/Latitude pay but pricing themselves out of festivals like that would be odd. They're surely too big for Latitude anyway. I can imagine tomorrow developing like it all starts to point to Gorillaz being announced and then it's The Libertines. Matt42
Idk I feel gorillaz are a headline or nothing band, but a weak headliner Is that just me? They can't play any lower than headline but they aren't the strongest headliner in the world.
the wonderwhy
They're surely too big for Latitude anyway. Dunno. Whilst Bestival's headliners vary in size the majority of them recently would've probably been fine at Latitude, and Latitude themselves have had some decent sized headliners in the last couple of years (Black Keys and Elbow both R&L subs & comfortably in arenas). I guess it's hard to judge their size given how few gigs they've played and their only major fest appearance being an anomaly, but I wouldn't personally put them as headliners at R&L so doing Latitude would probably be a better option. Plus Damon clearly likes it there.

Matt42
A weak headliner? Gorillaz? They aren't as popular as they were in 2005 that's for sure, if anything they've surely faded a lot. Wouldn't be surprised if a fair few of r&l's Teenage goers have never heard of them.
