Asdaprice
Do they appeal to your sensibilities as a songwriter? Yep. Smashing Pumpkins win in songwriting for great albums. Not great singles though. So it depends what you want your song to do
VCK
Half the songs on Zeitgeist were boring, the other half were fantastic. Not a bad effort for a comeback album I thought. Plus that album and Send Away The Tigers by the Manics (an even better comeback album) soundtracked the summer of 2007, so there's always nostalgia value about it! Oceania, I could never get into, like I couldn't with any of the Pumpkins' more self indulgent, experimental stuff. Corgan is at his best when he's bringing the rock! rawaudioinput
I thought Machina was pretty good, definitely a bit bloated but it had some decent singles Also this song is really great
GodlikeYeezus
Florence // Blur // Arcade Fire Very unlikely but would be nice

dentalplan
He says it a lot but didn't Damon cast doubts over Blur again last week? They won't be back without new material though so I don't see them doing 2015.
mattgimmeshelter
I don't want to believe it, but if Damon's solo proves well I can imagine Blur actually calling it quits. When they cancelled Big Day Out, I knew there must of been something else wrong more than "we were just not prepared".

When they cancelled Big Day Out, I knew there must of been something else wrong more than "we were just not prepared". They've looked to be on the edge of quitting for ages. I don't know if Damon's solo stuff will decide it because he's been doing projects way more successful than his solo career will ever be for a while now, but I dunno. I don't really think there's a future for them as they've seemed to do everything they wanted to, and if there isn't then they may as well just officially say so rather than hinting at it every now and then. I would quite like to see them however, so I'm hoping they don't pack it in. On a similar note, DFA1979 seem to have closed their Twitter account which, in addition to not announcing anything to do with output or live shows in what was meant to be a big year for them, has kinda scared me. the wonderwhy
Yeah Damon said the other day BDO were due to be Blur's last dates for a while and they scrapped that because they got mucked about. I'd love to see them at some point. In fact I'd like them to have a go at a new album- Under The Westway was great & I think Damon still has a hell of a lot of creativity in him

giantwagon
What's this about a supposed 'big year' for DFA1979? I must've completely missed it?

I assumed they'd tour it. You may not have completely missed it.

In fact I'd like them to have a go at a new album- Under The Westway was great & I think Damon still has a hell of a lot of creativity in him I think he said that if BDO had gone ahead it would have been their last ever shows and the fact that the organisers didn't want to celebrate that as much as Blur was part of the reason got the hump with them. He didn't go on to say whether that meant the shows played previously were the last ones or whether they were going to do something else to celebrate the end of Blur, hopefully the latter. mattgimmeshelter
That wasn't the reason for them cancelling at all, where did you get that from? That was their response when the press asked them I believe? Then this rumour website said it was "termoil within the band" but I don't know really. dentalplan
The main promoter guy for BDO/Soundwave said that they didn't give a reason originally and that it looked like there were band troubles. A bit crap though to keep going "it's our last show, make a big deal of it" then booking something else.

alan77
Smashing pumpkins arent headliners come on! R&L are trying to appeal to a lot of people these days especillay adolescent teenagers a lot of which who dont have matured musical years therefore SP wont headline. A headliner has to have anthems these days, Blink this year have an anthem or 2 and AM have loads. I personally think QOTSA are a good booking but for teenagers they havent heard a thing so was weak. 2014 : Novelty Artist/Old Schooler ; Blink 182 Anthem Artist : AM Festival Goer and Music type artist : QOTSA Predction 2015 : Novelty Artist/Old Schooler : Stone Roses Anthem Artist : Coldplay/Mumford/Florence/Killers Festival goer etc : Radiohead/Strokes
