dentalplan
I wouldn't disagree with that, I just reckon it was a fairly similar vein of comedy hip hop. Obviously Eminem was a lot better to go with it. Maybe people were just more accepting to it back then. I dunno, I'm talking shit.
mrtourette
Yeah that Beyonce thing is silly. As she's at the extreme end of the scale R&L has got a lot of other stages of shit pop music to get through before they get to her (they haven't even got around to Coldplay let alone Calvin Harris, Rihanna or Kanye), by the time such a booking is acceptable she'll probably be long gone and it'll be whatever the 2025 version of Beyonce is (headlining alongside Blink 182 and a reformed Foster The People - they'll have the reunion factor!). alan77
Mumford headlined Glastonbury and T last year and they are taking this year off and will start on work for new record next year. Very high chance they will headline either 2015 or 2016 as they have had successeful R&L appearances before
alan77
It's so obvious that you are back. hah oh get off your high horse, Coldplay could headliner whether you like it or not, there new album is shaping up to not be as accessible and theyve been asked before to headline. dont shoot the messenger

mattgimmeshelter
I think Coldplay could headline too! But not now, when they can play much much bigger gigs instead of a reading headline slot. They've got too big for festivals bar glastonbury

My bad your right, oh well if you watch the cave in 2010 at reading you can see they would be a popular booking

mattgimmeshelter
Its an interesting thought however i think they would take the opportunity as they are popular with teenagers and older people which is exactly my point as to why they won't headline reading now why headline a festival with other acts when you can shift 50,000-60,000 tickets just to see you at a hyde park gig etc. I'm still predicting coldplay are playing BST. mattgimmeshelter
Bloody hell. festivals may need coldplay, but coldplay don't need festivals when they can easily headline their own gigs and shift thousands of their own tickets. Gucci Piggy
festivals may need coldplay, but coldplay don't need festivals when they can easily headline their own gigs and shift thousands of their own tickets. Neither do Foo Fighters or Muse, but that doesn't make them too big. I know the answer to 2. They got asked but they couldn't because they were watching Chris' dad play cricket. Wasn't that after they'd missed it for like 5 years in a row? On the year they were booked to headline R&L they had a sudden realisation that watching Chris' dad play was more important so pulled out, and rued those past 5 years of their sorry lives. Babyquack
I highly doubt Muse shift more tickets than Coldplay... Sure they probably don't but that was not the point Will was making. Muse don't need festivals (they've done no european fests at all on The 2nd Law tour) but they still do them occasionally. One in North America and one in Europe? I know they're doing one in South America now so I don't know if that's changed things. Doesn't have any bearing on what you're saying, I just don't know if I remember that correctly.

The answer to 1. is that coldplay may be perceived as too poppy to headline an alternative festival
alan77
Muse are a bit off the radar these days people a bit bored of them, foos barely sold enough tickets for wembley stadium as well
