thesecretingredientiscrime
Yes, and I've also read the Glastonbury forum all year, in which he has said (since that article) what I've been saying. He knows a conversation was had about them headlining, but later information suggested that was likely to only be the case if other things fell through. I think we both know that Efests wouldn't publish an article on the main site not only saying that they believed they were headlining, but that this was unlikely to change, unless they were certain this was the case at the time. He has since said that they have been considered as a potential replacement, but the fact that they've gone from being "believed to headline and unlikely to change", to "replacement headliner" to "playing the same slot they have done previously" gives you an idea to what the festival thinks of them. Of course, it depends on to how much faith you put in efests and their knowledge, but considering the certainty of that article posted, and the certainty they were set to headline, and that was unlikely to change, i find it hard to disbelieve it. dentalplan
I thought he said they eventually decided against them headlining and - with their demotion- became a backup option.
thesecretingredientiscrime
Only because they're not going to be playing any time soon Yeah, i can't see them playing next year, and definitely not headlining. I wouldn't be surprised to see them do a Festival No.6 or Bestival exclusive next year.
Bisque
Elbow will probably do an album tour over next year, doubt they will play & won't headline. Mumfords will get the push after doing a decent job at Glastonbury. The Vaccines subbing them. Edit: there will need to have a big current band as the other headliner like Coldplay but not them Edited April 6, 2014 by Couchy
dentalplan
Vaccines will probably headline before Mumfords. Vaccines are jjust about ready when they release a new album, whereas Mumfords are having a long time off and would have to start work soon to have an album out ready to tour next summer. Probably won't play another show until 2016, and I wouldn't be surprised if their appeal has dropped drastically because of this whole folk thing blowing over. IOW will probably book them next. Bisque
Some valid points, if the folk thing doesn't blow over both will I think eventually headline but not in the same year so 2015 & 2016 would work
the wonderwhy
I think there are bands keeping their seat warm- the likes of Bombay, Two Door, Kodaline, Ed Sheeran, even Jake Bugg remaining popular will help out Mumford when they come back I would have thought. They do need to hurry up though if they want to headline as I do think their time will come and go quite quickly.
dentalplan
Well Mumfords are proper headliners now so I think they could get another new headliner in the same year with them. Though nother thing I'd say would be that as they've grown, Mumfords have probably shifted outside of what R+L would want nowadays; like Coldplay, Keane, and acts like that played earlier on in their careers but didn't come back when they were big. That and them going out of style would just be my opinion though really.
the wonderwhy
Well they booked Nine Inch Nails and The Cure so I'm sure they wouldn't be too worried about Mumford and Sons
mattgimmeshelter
I reckon they are established headliners now, whether they dip in popularity or not. Which I highly doubt will happen I reckon they'l just get bigger.
Gucci Piggy
Mumford are too big for festivals except Glastonbury now.

justanothername
Mumford will probably do V but they are still popular so maybe R&L will get them but I doubt it

Yeah, wasn't that at the Olympic park gig they did like a week later? They should be grateful they were allowed to fucking headline Glasto. What a bunch of Kanye's.
