Not pop punk but I read that Linkin Park release their album the Monday after Download, where they're mostly playing Hybrid Theory, and I thought it's just the sort of shitty booking that would trump Blink as overlord of shit bookings.

No one booked them after Living Things (didn't even tour with it) so I wouldn't be that bothered but it is a cause for concern anyway

I have the feeling that next years headliners will be:

Linkin Park

Foals

Kasabian

However if this year goes well I think they will have a Co-Headline next year aswell

Linkin Park

Kasabian

Foals & Interpol (Co-Headline)

Kasabian should really be completely off the table as it's too soon but I don't even know now after Blink.

But just revisiting this because the coheadline is a good point. I know last time the coheadline thing was written off as circumstancial and a one off with Pulp and The Strokes. This year it's happened again and it's not circumstancial at all, and it seems that there are plenty of festivals on the continent with coheadliners and there's two of the major festivals in England (who are now in competition with European festivals for the UK crowd) following suit with it this year. I wonder if it'll be something easier to slip into now.

If there are two acts they want to bump up available in one year then yeah, I think it's quite probable you'll be right. In the next few years with the likes of Florence, Black Keys, Foals and The Vaccines. If you forget other festivals then I wouldn't be surprised by The Black Keys/Florence in 2015 or Foals/The Vaccines in 2016. In fact the second one seems really likely to me.
