dentalplan
What's happened with Rage? Ah cool, hope it actually comes to fruition then, seems like its been off/on for ages. Be good for Sonisphere to return and snap them up over Download, with a more interesting undercard than the majority of what Download offers. I don't think the Sonisphere undercard is notably more interesting than Download's but I think SOAD would be a big fish for either to catch, and Download probably will and along with R+L it will probably knock Sonisphere out of the running again, or even worse resign them to Metallica. And nothing's happened with Rage - that's the point. Also I disagree with the earlier point about Slipknot and Deftones being criticised. I think Deftones will do Download though. I've just realised this is the 2015 thread too. Edited April 27, 2015 by dentalplan

Hawky
The hilarious suggestion that because SOAD did 1 show in two years they became a commonplace, regular band I never said that. I said they'd reunited in 2011 and in 2013 their reunion hype had gone. Which it had.

mrtourette
How long had they been away before reunifying in 2011? I reckon we can develop some sort of formula for confirming how long reunion hype lasts... Edited April 27, 2015 by mrtourette

I've just realised this is the 2015 thread too. I couldn't think of how to word it, but Sonisphere's undercard tends to cater to my tastes more than Download's, so I guess I'd rather pay to go see SOAD there than Download. And I'd love SOAD + Metallica at Sonisphere Fair, I thought something had been said that I'd missed. I'm just hoping they'll release/announce something out of nowhere I guess. I think people might be a bit more critical of Deftones subbing if it's under someone like Slipknot who a lot of attendees (sorry going by twitter) don't see as headliners at R&L. Whereas if they were under Rage, they'd be almost blanked. We're not very good at sticking to thread topics it seems
Hawky
No I reckon you're getting a little defensive because SOAD were DEFINITELY headlining in 2013... They OBVIOUSLY wouldn't take any other position... If SOAD played RandL in 2011 instead of download, I reckon they would have headlined/ co headlined with someon instead of Pulp (on their Northern England Exclusive)/ strokes. Regardless of the comments, Serj said an album cycle takes 3 years- unless they've been recording on the sly, we have a wait on our hands... thewayiam
Really? After their last two albums? I would've taken them in 2014, 10 year anniversary of 'Hot Fuss', but not now. Only purely as they were in that conversation and Tool do nothing for me. Seeing The Killers on a lineup wouldn't actually entice me into a ticket. I see it's the family member with the attitude who has control of the keyboard today. Where is the attitude? I simply confirmed you questioning what I put. DGrant261
Don't think Deftones wlll play it in the next few years. But I don't get why they'd get another promotion if they when their stock isn't rising. Same goes for SOAD can't see them returning for a long time but when they do I don't think it'll be as a headliner. If Slipknot do headline someone like You Me At Six or 30 Seconds To Mars will sub. DGrant261
I thought this Wembley show for Deftones suggested rising stock tbh; isn't that why we're discussing it? Just suggests a break from touring imo. I think they'd have played Wembley over Brixton in 2013 if they weren't doing R&L that same year
Chavmeisterdeluxe
They're touring as a break from the studio whilst they're recording their new album. I reckon they might tour said album.

rawaudioinput
I think people are jumping to conclusions regarding Deftones playing Wembley; when they played it back in '03 they were getting the same sort of festival slots that they have now They're certainly in a stronger place than they were promoting say, Saturday Night Wrist, but they aren't going to get remarkably bigger than they ever have been
dentalplan
Yeah I've toyed with the idea of them subbing before but unless they do an arena tour, then I can't see it. Obviously BMTH didn't do an arena tour either but the festival bookers want them fasttracked to the top of the bill whereas Deftones obviously aren't gonna do that. Also this won't sell out quickly, and I'll prefer that as I'm not too crazy about shelling out and committing to getting down to London this far in advance. Hawky
Deftones and Tool are two of the most highly anticipated albums of the year, IMO. I can't wait to dabble. I might even buy a brand new sub woofer with my Tool album, crank it up to 11. But Ye, if Deftones play (which I don't think they will, I think they'll sub download) they'd sub. And my bad yellow, thought you were one of the ones saying 'SOAD WOULD ONLY HEADLINE'. Wasn't really active in 2013 around the SOAD hype. DomDom1984
The other thing with Deftones is that it's a one off they're doing at Wembley, is it not? I couldn't see them playing an arena on an extended tour of the UK.
