Also, I think The Prodigy headlining RES but not R&L suggests FR don't really see them as good headliners at present. Otherwise I think they would have gone out and got them ahead of Blink or even the co-headliners.

I guess that could change with a new album, if they get round to actually releasing it at some point

So long as they throw that song with the SOAD sample in it off the face of the earth, I'm more than happy to hear new material

I don't think Royal Blood will put a full album out until next year (or very late this year) so it's a bit premature to put them 3rd but it's certainly something that could be on the cards the year after.

Other than that, I'd take it

I dunno. They've gathered a good amount of radio airplay and TV appearances already and are hitting the small slots at all the festivals this year. The hype's growing steadily and is gonna change up a gear over the summer. If R+L offer them a good slot to knick them away from most of the other festivals then I can see it.

They were never gonna book them this year without a new album. Plus the RES thing doesn't matter if they're not coming from afar.

Yeah I'd have thought The Prodigy are someone FR definitely have their eye on. There could be a number of reasons they didn't book them this year other than FR not being interested. I reckon they're most likely to headline next year at the moment, in my opinion of course.

Well considering that RES other two headliners are Arctics and Queens of the Stone Age it'd be too similar for R&L to have the Prodigy.

You're sounding too much like Gazza here as I don't think that has anything to do with it. RES is in another country and very few people (you could probably count them on your hands) are going to be split between the two festivals.

Howso? I don't see how the two festivals having the same headliners will affect either one at all?

You made it sound like Rock en Seine was at the other end of Europe rather than just about the closest international festival to the UK. Lots of British people go over there and vice versa. They've never shared all headliners before either, not that they couldn't but it'd be kinda foolish.

Ah apologies for the bad wording then. I guess it comes down to the fact the demographic for R&L is so very different to that of RES. As they don't have camping, you're not going to get many 16/17 year olds going across are you? I just don't see how them sharing headliners would massively hurt either one.

Do they?! I was told by a friend who went a few years ago that they didn't? If that's true then sharing headliners does somewhat affect both. Haha, my entire basis was that as they didn't have camping, you're unlikely to get young people over there.

EDIT: Double apologies then. :)

I didn't realise R+L was only for 16/17 year olds. Why do they have bars?

Oh shit. Is it? Means I clearly cannot go.

You know what I meant. The main demographic is clearly people just finished GCSE/A-Levels. Sure, theres a good portion of people who are older (I'm sure I'll continue to go for a long time) but a massive chunk is teenagers. Stop being so pedantic dentalplan :P

It's something to consider that's all. Be stupid to have the same headliners on the same weekend with another festival in Europe especially when it is in France

It's easier and cheaper for me to go to Paris than it is for me to go to Leeds (and probably Reading too)

lmao

Tbh (and I know it basically dashes my whole argument) it's cheaper for me too to go to Rock Werchter (travel and ticket) than to go to Reading (which is a £4 train journey away for me).

Lmoa.
