Babyquack
I've never been to a festival in my country Me too. Plenty of festivals in the country where I've lived for the past 5 years though

Babyquack
while on the subject of Volunteering, how many can you do in a year with Oxfam? As many as you can fit in as long as they clearly don't clash dates wise.

I don't think you can volunteer with V Festival and Download with Oxfam from what I saw as I'm planing to volunteer at a few festivals next year
Babyquack
Take That really aren't a festival group in my eyes. neither are One Direction but they're playing R1's Big Weekend. Could be the start of those sorts of bands playing festivals perhaps?
Gucci Piggy
Big Weekend isn't a festival, it's irrelevant.
Babyquack
Big Weekend isn't a festival, it's irrelevant. Is it not? Looks like one on the tv but having never been, I don't really know. Did think it was odd they were booked. I don't see that sort of band becoming festival bands any time soon but its worth festivals thinking about for the future. Can genuinely see 5sos playing something like V at some point.

Big Weekend's essentially just a promotional event, if you play you get played lots on radio 1.

Jack White never got played loads on Radio 1 though did he? And he played in 2012.

Babyquack
5ive, Little Mix etc. Never heard of them but I didn't know Little Mix had played. Now I don't understand how V haven't snapped up 1D to headline. Would shift tickets so fast. I couldn't tell you, but as he was headlining a tent I assume they at least hyped him up like they do with other acts playing. I guess there must have been hype given to him but it's always struck me as an odd booking you know?

Would shift tickets so fast. I guess there must have been hype given to him but it's always struck me as an odd booking you know? You've not heard of 5ive? You'd probably like them. 1D would be a disaster as they don't really want all their tickets to go to under 15's, if they could go as they'd have to go with parents. Jack White is from one of the biggest bands of the 00's so I don't see it as odd really. He's had plenty of R1 play over the years.
Bisque
Can anyone tell me the difference in size of: TitP & V vs R&L's arenas? Just wondered why an open air second stage has never been used to warrant booking bigger or more established acts, replacing or coexisting with the NME tent?
