TenInchToenaiIs
True but that was because I didn't think they'd do something as ridiculous as book someone to headline twice in four years. Slipknot is different reasoning- they're not quite big enough to headline in terms of the demographic, could probably sub but would definitely get a better offer from both Download and Sonisphere Reckon they're about on par with System of a Down. Strong sub, could headline if need be.

Tobieski
If the supposed quick release of Kanye's 7th album doesn't arise there's absolutely no hope of him being booked.
mattgimmeshelter
Slipknot could pull off as a strong sub. No higher
Role Model
Slipknot could EASILY headline, I just don't think they would headline modern day Reading sadly. Love it to happen though.
mattgimmeshelter
Muse could be doing glasto next year, their manager was backstage with eavis during metallica.

tyranicide
AC/DC at glasto. Apparently he booked a band during metallica by the side of stage, one of the guys in the band is British but the rest aren't (brian Johnson is British, rest are Australian). And he was seen with metallicas manager - who also manages ac/dc

lightning1000
I don't think slipknot would be booked for reading again, it'd put too many ribs at risk.
Gucci Piggy
Rather have Metallica over Arcade Fire after this weekend. Never thought I'd be saying that.
Babyquack
I think with Arcade Fire it'd depend what kind of setlist they decide to do next year (if there are gigs then) or on the next tour as to whether I'd like them at R&L. All the festivals this year have kind of been 'best of' sets so if they continue like that, I'd rather have someone like Metallica instead of them tbh. dentalplan
Hmm. My mates who watched both all rated Arcade Fire over them, even the ones who prefer Metallica on the whole. Way more chance of Metallica anyway so it's not like FR are picking one of the two.

Babyquack
Isn't that true for all bands? I suppose so but every time I've seen AF, it's been the rarities that have made the gig for me and tbh, I find some of the standard set songs quite boring live so I'd prefer they did their own gigs than a festival show. A fair few headliners get in some rarities though; Muse, The Cure, Foos, Biffy, Green Day and MCR being the ones I've seen at Reading do some so it's not like it's the norm to do best of's all the time. Ipayne
I'd be really happy with Metallica to be honest, saw them at Sonisphere in 2011 and they were one of the best headliners I've seen at a festival. Although since then I sort of got sick of seeing them at the top of Lineups, I was watching their Glastonbury set and it made me realise how much I'd like to see them again. Still haven't seen Metallica's set yet so I can't comment on it properly and I take it that Massive Attack was your headliner on the Sunday I'd rather have Arcade Fire than Metallica but that is just because I prefer Arcade Fire. I'd see Metallica if no one else was on but I'm not a massive fan of them but I do know they put on a good show
Dan R
Metallica were great at glastonbury, but it was made better by them being out of their comfort zone. The prospect of them at R&L next year just sounds dull.
dentalplan
Yeah that's true. In fact if there wasn't the hype of them being a metal band it would've been a kind of boring booking. Can't blame FR if they've pursued them for next year though as they could have a new album and a few new fans as well as the army of old ones. The Prodigy have said their album will be out this year so if that's true this time then they've probably got a good shot.
