justanothername
I nearly fell for that. You aren't as daft as you appear. Cheers pal

Those faces made it look a lot more condescending than I intended; I was just trying to be Matt.
Babyquack
Caught The Black Keys at Werchter and I must say, I really enjoyed myself. I thought they were shockingly bad at Reading in 2012 but their set on saturday was pretty good. Lacked old songs from the first three albums but that's to be expected with the success of El Camino and Turn Blue I suppose. If they were to play next year though, I'm not sure they're quite at the level of headliner yet though but if they're given the bump up, they'd be decent enough I'd say. mattgimmeshelter
I think the Black Keys will remain a very strong sub in the UK. Reminds me of another band in the past, a band that was touted to jump to headline status but just never did.

Gucci Piggy
Remember when loads thought Bloc Party would sub in 2013, and then as soon as they weren't announced people started saying they were NME headline/NME sub size, as though not playing R&L in 2013 destroyed their careers beyond repair. Definitely Bloc Party if they didn't break up I reckon they'd be standard festival headliners by now.
Gucci Piggy
I wish they were. I'd prefer them to most current headliners.
Babyquack
I've never really got Bloc Party tbh. I've never seen them as festival headliners at all, only ever a sub.

I think it's because they deteriorated really quickly Back in the day (even though I was like 10-12) I remember them being a really popular band with the teens older than me
Ipayne
Pearl Jam were great last night, the 2nd encore was brilliant consisting of a run of Black/Jeremy/State of L&T/Alive/Baba O' Reilly/All Along the Watchtower/Indifference. Anyway, wouldn't mind seeing them headline again whether it's next year or a few years time
lightning1000
Yup, amazing rarities set. They played man of the hour!!!! 36 song setlist and it went so quickly. Gutted I've got to go to a wedding on Friday...

lightning1000
What's even worse is that I gave my ticket away to someone who was looking to buy one from a tout. Sorry Will Edit - my spare single seated ticket that is. Edited July 9, 2014 by lightning1000
dentalplan
It was really fantastic. I'm still exhausted. Can't help but think it wouldn't work at R+L or Download though.
lightning1000
They write a specific set list for the occasion though. I'd expect a much heavier set for download.

Sorry Will Edit - my spare single seated ticket that is. Oh it's fine I went and played a cricket match that got rained off after 8 overs. Actually I'm not so fussed after watching the football last night instead
normalperson
Just read that "20 young acts that could step up to headline slots in 2015" I know it's nme and them just overhyping bands, but I'm scared now
normalperson
Do Foster the People, Jake Bugg and Skrillex fit legendary, godlike and up&coming?
Tobieski
I don't think they were saying Foster the People could headline the likes of Reading and Leeds next year
dentalplan
Yeah. I agree with a lot of them actually. However they do tip The Horrors, Bombay Bicycle Club, Disclosure and Jake Bugg to headline EOTR, Latitude, Bestival and R+L respectively next year - a year after subbing,
Mash011
Can't wait for Vampire Weekend to headline, though.
Mouseboy11
Metallica for next year I think are a decent shout
