Top 5/10 gigs you've ever been to!

Looked and searched for quite some time and not found a thread like this here on the board so thought it'd be nice to share some stories of past gigs, albeit a year, 5 years, 10 years or however many years ago, it'd be nice to hear what people's fondest gig memories are!

Also, I guess we're including festival sets aswell, as they can be just as good, if not better, than an artists or bands own concerts! :D

I'd always say the one I enjoyed most was muse at wembley first time around but blur at Glastonbury a couple years ago was close.

Indoors, chris Cornell at rock city touring his second solo LP was phenomenal.

Some bands I've seen a few times and are consistently brilliant so it's difficult to pick a particular show (Metallica/NiN/the wildhearts and Ginger/skindred come to mind)

New bands that have blown me away live

Kvelertak at download this year. Truly astonishingly good, really recommend them!

Best one, head and shoulders above anything else is Flaming Lips at Jodrell Bank 2 years ago. Phenomenal show, just everything was magical. I didn't have a drop to drink and I wouldn't have been safe to drive back from the euphoria I was in at the end of it.

NIN at Reading 07 would be the next best show, and definitely the most consistently amazing live band I've seen. They keep on mixing up their set and stage show between tours while still keeping it incredibly intense.

Other highlights would be Roger Waters performing The Wall, Sufjan Stevens, Nick Cave, Moby doing an acoustic set, David Byrne, Belle & Sebastian, The Cure, LCD Soundsystem, Neil Young, Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine. I'd say I've seen a "perfect" show from all of them and would struggle to whittle it down to a top 10. All very different types of shows so hard to pick favourites beyond that top 2.

Arctic Monkeys - Liverpool Academy

Faithless - V Festival

Jason Mraz - Glastonbury

Hayseed Dixie - Glastonbury

Charlatans - Birmingham Academy

These five come to mind for various reasons so must of been good :P but some are defo more to do with reasoning above and beyond the performance.

For example V Festival was a fucking awful time for me and the Mrs. Pissed it down and had a big falling out with friends. But that evening the sun came out, the rain fucked off and it was just me and the Mrs going mental to fucking awesome performance by Faithless :) (one and only time we have seen them) Seems like a million years ago now :)

Been to so many though its hard to do a top 5/10... :)

Good stuff, wish I'd gone to that.

I'm going to that Jodrell Bank thing to see Sigur Ros tomorrow funnily enough. Looking forward to it.

yeh I hadnt even really thought of portishead in probably 10 years and only went to see them as there wasnt much else on, and it turned out to be possibly the greatest gig of my life! happy days

I still say the time I saw Arcade Fire in Barcelona at Summercase is the best gig I've ever seen.

Having said that, each band is different so I just like to recall my favourite gigs by individual bands.

Soooooooo...

Interpol- Zurich Volkhaus 2007

Doves- The Ritz (Carling 24, anyone remember that?) 2005

British Sea Power- Glastonbury 2004 or The Haunt in Brighton last year

I Am Kloot- Astoria in 2005

Dutch Uncles- Gorilla this year

LCD Soundsystem- Manchester Academy 2007

The Killers- Manchester Academy on the NME tour in 2005 or at Sziget last year

Manics- Liverpool Royal Court 2005

Morrissey- Probably the last night at the London Palladium in 2006

Foals- Manchester Academy earlier this year

I could go on all day...

Rough Top 10 in no particular order:

Nine Inch Nails at Reading 2007

Radiohead at Reading 2009

Blur at Glasto 2009

Orbital at Glasto 2010

Foo Fighters in Cardiff 2008

Arcade Fire in Cardiff 2010

LCD Soundsystem/Hot Chip in Cardiff 2010

Caribou/Battles - Manchester 2010

Portishead - I'll Be Your Mirror, London 2011

My Bloody Valentine - Manchester 2013

EDIT: Probably could put the Rolling Stones at Glasto this year in there somewhere, but I got too drunk and blacked out quite a lot of the set.
