It's not really though. If they postponed the rest of the tour due to illness you wouldn't think it was brought on by alcohol. It's just with them only pulling one date and that was the night after a traditional music industry piss up, it's a fair assumption. We'll never know if it's right but just because they've played through hangovers before doesn't mean a cancelled show would never happen, it just means it's never happened before.

The ills of a hangover are much shadowed by the ills of cost due to rearranging a show. There will be a fee for that.

Glasgow postponed as well - Alex has Laryngitis apparently. New dates are November 20th for Birmingham and Nov 21st for Glasgow.

Surely an arena tour followed by a string of large outdoor shows like Finsbury Park and Heaton Park would make a headline spot at R+L a tad overkill? Look what happened with The Killers and IOW this year

Just seems a bit overkill, Glasto - Big arena tour - Outdoor Shows - R&L in the space of 2 years is quite a bit

Plus there's the fact some still reckon they played too recently

For any other band I would say its a problem but for the arctic monkeys I don't think it is.

There's a whole new R+L batch of youngsters since 2009 that are dying to see AM headline R+L.

Glasto was an exclusive show, you cant buy glasto tickets just to see them so I'd take that out of the equation. The arena tour sold out really quick and I'm pretty sure that if tommorow they announced the same sized tour for feb it wold sell out just as quick. I think they are in ridiculous demand at the moment from the audience that R+L caters too

IOW is a different beast from Reading. It's during term time, travel over there is expensive, and the people over there are inbred (not that that has any bearing on festival booking, but things sound better in threes).

Actually, come to think about it, the year they did Don Valley shows (SJM) was the year they did V and T (both SJM). I can't imagine that being too damning but it's worth thinking about.
