I love the arguments where one person states their opinion as fact (x is is better than y, has had a greater impact and has real talent, and they are scientific facts) and then someone tries to 'prove' them wrong using meaningless stats (can't be true as y had the fastest selling album, most top 10 hits and biggest concert attendence) without realising that they actually mean fuck all.

how old were you in 1994/95?

if 18 then you really should have moved on to some better stuff by now....

I was 16 in 95' and find the notion that i should have 'moved on' tiresomely condescending. Oasis are the band that mean the most to me, the band that sets my heart on fire. In nearly 20 years, my passion for them has never dimmed and i like that. My iPod may be clogged with 1500 of their songs in various guises but i, like everyone else, love a wide variety of stuff. Bottom line, Noel has the knack of writing killer melodies and they hit my buttons more than anyone else. . For me, there is no 'better stuff', just other stuff.

"pop" means popular, hence Oasis, Radiohead, Stone Roses, Blur, Pulp, Manic Street Preachers, REM, Primal Scream, Weller, etc etc were all extremely "pop"ular in the 90's. They all had number 1 albums, massive singles, sold out shows etc.

What you're talking about is manufactured cheesy pop & has never had a place at Glastonbury. If you honestly think Jay-Z falls into the same category as the Spice Girls & Boyzone then you're just plain ignorant.

gary barlow wrote all the take that songs, I believe ronan keeting wrote all the boyzone songs (may be wrong on that one)

there's no difference at all in them and beyonce/jay z's newer stuff

Always been interested in the notion that sales figures, ticket sales, chart records etc are of no relevance whatsoever in determining how good a certain act was. Now, let me be clear that i realise because X amount of sales have been reached, therefore this or that act is not necessarily brilliant/crap, but at the very least i would say it was circumstantial evidence. And by the way, i'm not trying to 'prove' that Oasis were better than Bowie or whoever it may be, i'm defending them from nonsense accusations of being talentless chancers.

you like them, that's all. Others find them dull and boring, even annoying... they're equally valid opinions.

p.s. i personally think Take That would fucking nail a headline slot at Glastonbury and think it's bullshit if they don't get the chance one day. they may not be your taste in music, and may have a sketchy past of topless music videos and questionable outfits and haircuts, but in their current form (especially live) they're fantastic, and Barlow is a brilliant songwriter. Rule The World ringing out over the Pyramid field would be amazing

Take That would be perfect headliners i think. Saw them at City's ground and, nauseating Robbie Williams cameo aside, they were good fun. Better than Basement Jaxx at any rate.
