Not really enough there to make it worth our while traveling all the way to Porto. May try to catch the Pixies in London.

OK.....so.....

This year is gonna be my first Primavera. I was as excited as a Duck in somerset. And i kinda still am.....BUT...

The sheen is now slightly tarnished now. Thanks to the fact that, if id waited to buy my tickets, id have 2 months Deezer premium free. Which is odd. Why reward the 'johnny come latelys' (or....er...jose?) and not the early birds?

Mini rant over...

Sorry, but what are you talking about?

Never mind, found it...

"If you purchase your full festival ticket through the Primavera Sound Portal, you will get a free subscription to Deezer Premium+ for two months that will allow you to access a catalogue of more than 30 million songs, without connection, without advertising and anywhere you want (on mobile, tablet, computer, etc.)."

Anyway, early birds get cheaper tickets so I don't see the problem really.

I know. I just......think it was a bit wierd is all. If i were a marketing type, id assume getting cash in their coffers early would be best. And to promote peeps to do that, having this giveaway earlier would be better?!?

No biggie though. It don't matter. I dont like using streaming websites anyways. I like to stick to good old fashioned vinyl & CD. (Im 38)

Hello.

This will be my first appearance at Primavera Sound so I've just got a few basic questions. Firstly, how many stages are there and are they all located in close proximity to each other..? I remember reading a few years back that the music was scattered at venues around the city. Secondly, what time does the music start and finish.? Does it work like a number a other European festivals in starting late afternoon and finishing at around 3am?

Ta x

winderlufc: This link gives you an idea of the stages and starting and finishing times from last year: http:///s/ps13/

Heineken, Primavera, Ray-Ban, Pitchfork, ATP and Vice are big outdoor stages of different sizes. In addition there is an indoor venue called the Auditori, last year staging shows on the Friday and Saturday.

There are also a couple of smaller stages, Adidas and Smint I think they are called, showcasing lesser known artists. All these stages are in close proximity to each other. Maybe 7-8 minutes walk to get across the area if you pace yourself a little bit.

On the Wednesday night there are warm up parties with gigs in a couple of venues in the city center as well as a few concerts at the main festival area. The Sunday offer closing concerts at various places in the city. Thursday through Saturday all the music is at the Parc Forum main festival area.

But all the information is available at the offical site: http://www.primaverasound.es/?lang=en

Last year I saw several people at the festival with my own clashfinder so I did the same a few weeks ago but I keep mine private until the full set times will be revealed. Feel free to bookmark it cause I'll update it as soon as they post the info. http:///s/ps14/

Anyway, I think your guesses are not very acurate: Neutral Milk Hotel won't be playing in such a late spot for sure. I think they'll be the third band playing at the ATP Stage. Also it was confirmed by one of the directors that GY!BE are playing 1h30min so it's gonna be the hardest band to fit in the timetables. And finally, my guess is that Moderat, SBTRKT and Cut Copy (this one for sure) will close the ATP Stage each day.

Can anyone help me with information regarding entry for children? My 13 year old is desperate to go to Primavera Sound (Barcelona) this year. The website seems to suggest that children under 14 accompanied by an adult don't need a ticket, but I'm having trouble believing that could be true (how would they control crowd numbers in that case?). There's no option to buy a child's ticket on any of the booking websites as far as I can see.

Can anyone confirm that a ticket is NOT needed for under 14s?

Also, has anyone taken a young teen before - is there any reason why this might be a bad idea? She has some festival experience but mainly at smaller festivals like Green Man where she can safely go to the front on her own even for headliners. I'm guessing this would not be the case at Primavera Sound.

Thank you!

Is this sold out? The website is very confusing and I'm not sure if it is or not and there seems to be so many different types of tick that I'm not sure what each actually buys you. Especially cause the actual festival is Thurs-Sat but theres gigs on the surround days.

What's the cheapest way to do this? Tickets aren't too dear but flights and stuff surely quite expensive?

And what do the free concerts mean? Surely a full festival ticket gets you into everything anyway? Or are the free concerts free for people who are just in the area anywya and don't require to purchase anything from Primavera?

I wouldn't recommend it. The earliest you can see a band will be about 7pm and headliners will often only go on at 01:30 and play until 3. I've gone with adults who struggle with that, don't see a way a teenager will manage. Also, other than watch bands and a couple of record stalls there isn't anything at all to do.

The site is all concrete so it is uncomfortable to sit on the floor and there aren't many steps etc. I'd be surprised if it was worth flights + hotels.

Hey, I have a few questions about the festival as it seems you have been before:

1. Can you stay anywhere in Barcelona or are there only certain places that you'd recommend staying for the festival for ease of transport? I was hoping somewhere fort around 15-20 euro a night travelling on my own.

2. On the website there are a lot of different gigs on outwith the festival dates at different venues. Are they all within close distance of each other and do they have good transport links with the places you are likely to be staying?

3. What does the free concerts mean?

Sorry for the delay, I'm not going this year so only pop my head every few weeks like.

1 - You can stay anywhere in central Barcelona, naturally some places are a bigger trek than others. Anything on the yellow, green or purple lines are ideal from experience. I've never travelled alone, but hotels are expensive. You won't get a private room for that, but could possibly get a bed in a dorm if you're sound with that. Where you stay depends on what you wanna do in the day. If you wanna see some sights you're better away from the festival. I suppose if budget is the biggest concern I'd worry about that and plan travel to/from the site accordingly. A taxi to Parall-el metro was about 15 Euro, and the area is fine, walking distance to ramblas. We tended to stay up late enough to always use the metro to save some money though.

2. I've not looked into where the other gigs are, but they aren't usually within walking distance of either each other or the main site. In 2011 we stayed next to one of the venues and it was good but nothing I saw ranked alongside the main arena.

3. Exactly that - they are in open spaces, designed as a 'thank you' to residents for the invasion in the city.

I hope this clears things up, if you've any others just post them here and I'll keep an eye out.
