dondo
Hi all I have a 7 year old daughter and a 5 year old son and they do like listening to their music- mostly when we're out and about in the car but we're getting them both DAB Radio/CD playe for their Christmas so am sure they'll listen to a load more. Generally at the moment the stuff they like is stuff me and my wife listen to or like (my son especially seems to have quite ecletic taste) but I am sure I am going to have to put up with some awful stuff going forward. Now i don't want to stop them liking what they like or force anything on them per se but would be interested to hear what other efesters who have kids of a similar age kids like musically. Cheers
Yoghurt on a Stick
I don't have any kids but if I did then I would make sure that they were over exposed to stuff like this; This is where it's at right now.

t8yman
kids are funny little creatures, both of mine went through stages of liking the stuff i/we like, but it quite quickly deteriorates. My daughter went to download with me, liked a bit of metallica, soad, ratm, pearl jam, AIC etc. Now all she listens to is RnB shite, chris brown, jay-z, rihanna. She's 17 The lad - he's still learning what he likes, but loves motorhead, lynyrd skynrd, deftones, tool. But he also watches a lot of shitty pop on youtube. He's 9. You obviously know your kids better than I do, but I know neither of my kids would even bother with a DAB radio. Kids get all of their music from the internet now, wether its dodgy downloading or just youtube playlists. grumpyhack
This shows my age (and also that of my daughters - now 29 and 30). We live about 25 minutes from the primary school they attended so they had to put up with my musical tastes on the morning school run. It tended to be late 60s so they knew the entire repertoire of the Mamas and Papas by the time they were six. It was wonderful when years later a remake was issued of California Dreaming and my younger daughter Lizzie commented: "It's OK dad but not a patch on the Mamas and Papas original." As they grew older I inflicted my love of blues on them and, again, a great result. My older daughter Charlie could write the definitive history of blues music without needing to turn to a single reference book. As well as sharing my music they also developed their own tastes but we still enjoy a lot of music in common. Lizzie recently brought up her latest purchase by Ani di Franco, which was excellent, and we're all going to see The Alabama 3 together next month. I think passing on a love of music is one of the great joys you can share with your kids. Edited November 13, 2013 by grumpyhack

windy_miller
I am not having that.... I can appreciate you don't like the song but to put it at the same level of the shite RnB we get is just silly
